I have been reading many posts here by you Christians. I have not found one, not one, that contains any insight or thoughtfulness. I was hoping you could clear a few things up for me:

1) Why do you keep insisting that Christianity is the source of all morality when all evidence says otherwise. America is the most Christian of all Western nations and has some of the highest per capita crime rates. Statistically, evangelical christians are more likely to divorce than atheists. Heck, even your own statements betray your consequentialist moral leanings when you say things like "wouldn't the world be a better place if we all followed Christ's teachings?" Why not just
follow consequentialist morality? Why do you need a decrepit 3000 year old book to tell you what is right?

2. Why do you keep claiming that you are somehow "oppressed" when virtually every politician/crook in the nation identifies themself as Christian? You are the ones who put them in office. More to come...

I am interested in joining the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints. One of their early presidents, Brigham Young had over 50 wives.

I'd take 2 or 3:)

One responder, Janet, made a very good point, and made me want to ask this. Shouldn't we find our true path to G-d through questioning and asking about it?

Are you less likely to practice your religion if you are angry, and more likely when joyful?

Just curious.

After so many years, so much can be lost in translation, and a lot of G-d's commandments have to be misunderstood. G-d gave us free will for a reason. If he or she wanted us to do everything perfectly in the way that is proposed in the Testaments, the world would not be as beautiful of a creation. I really think people can follow G-d's message without being concerned about whether everything they are doing is a sin. If you have a good heart, no matter what kind of person you are, you don't deserve to be anagonized for things like being gay or such.

BTW I am Jewish, but know even my religion has uncertainties as well.

I know but you believe it's true, but when it's proven not true, what will you do?

I've heard some say that even if it weren't true, Christianity offers a superior way to live morally, etc. but if your way of life is based on only ancient moral codes and lessons, then why not use your common sense to pick through all ancient literature and create some superior moral record?

How would you imagine culture would view eternity without the influence of the Abrahamic influence?

Would you be likely to embrace a religious view that espouses reincarnation, or would you only live with reason and evidence as your guide, living as vitally as possible and learning to embrace "spirit" as a mystery?

Many times when I've done something wrong, I feel almost embarrassed to ask for forgiveness. Like, I'm not worthy to ask God to forgive me, especially if it's something I've asked for forgiveness before and then backslid. How do I lose this repressive spirit that comes over me at times? Also, what should I do when I feel embarrassed to pray aloud or cry to Christ? I don't live alone and hate for people to ask me if I'm ok.

I'm asking Christians this question not to exclude atheists, Muslims, Wiccans, or anyone else but because this is about strengthening my spirit through Christ. So other standpoints don't really apply.

Please don't try to shove your beliefs down my throat. Thanks in advance, guys
