I am interested in joining the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints. One of their early presidents, Brigham Young had over 50 wives.

If you want a bunch of wives there are a few FLDS communities in Utah and Oregon that you could look into. However the leaders of these groups ban owning TVs and computers. And then we won't be able to answer your questions on Y!A. How sad!

It sounds like you have a grave misunderstanding of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While Brigham Young did have many wives, the members today can have only one spouse. In case you missed it, it is illegal in the US to have more than one wife (or husband). Any member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who is found to be polygamous is excommunicated.
If you wish to join the Church, I would hope that you have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, of the Book of Mormon, and of President Gordon B. Hinckley.

Look in your area phone book for Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Don't waste your time asking the question on here. You have had a few really dumb answers. Ignore them. Go to the source and you will find all your answers. The main stream LDS Church do not practice polygamy (which was also practiced in biblical times) at this time.

Forget the LDS Church! Why don't you move to Saudi Arabia, and becom Muslim! then you can have all the wives you want!
the LDS don't do that anymore! They haven't for a 160 years or so!
So, what is the name of your Church so we have have a good laugh at what you believe!
These people have more patience with you @ssh*les than I would! The amazing thing is you call yourselves Christians! I would think to call it something else! More like heathens! Or just plain Godless, not to be confused with Atheists! I respect them!
I think as a concerned user of Yahoo, from now on when I see Mormon bashing, I'll just start using the new pretty buttons for violations of the new guidelines!!

If you want a couple wives, LDS is not the way to go. You wouldn't last your first week. However there might be other ways. I saw this Lifetime Movie and the guy was a pilot and had wives in several cities.

If that's the only reason why you should join LDS, then take my advice: Forget it.
Now, if you're convinced that you should join LDS because of your love, devotion, and obedience to God...then GO!

However if you want to join because you think you can have multiple wives then you will be sorely disappointed. Plural marriage has not been practiced for over 150 years in the Church.

To join this Church, you must be called of Jesus Christ, have a clean livining, and open mind.
Be taught by the missioneries, and approved by their leader, befor you can be a free living idevidual, and have Jesus Christ as you daily companion.

If you are joining just for the women you had better think again. LDS is in alot of trouble right now over that very thing and I don't think the media is going to go away.

Since Godliness doesn't do anything for you try the jihad and go for the 77 virgins. Or get serious and take the word of Jesus Christ and be converted.
