Baptism has nothing to do with Salvation. It is a testimony as to what God has done in your life.

It's very important to be baptized as a sign of your salvation, but I do not believe it is essential for actual salvation. If you get saved and then die before you can get baptized, you're still saved.

Jesus told the thief on the cross, "Today you will be with Me in paradise."

If you make the work of baptism a requirement for salvation, that's saying you have to add something to what Jesus did for us on the cross, which is not true.

Baptism is an outward sign of an inward act...contrary to what some believe, baptism does not save you, accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior does! Baptism is saying that you are willing to express openly to the world that you are a child of God and are immersed in Him.

One reason I believe in baptism is because Jesus said live a life like him... He was baptized
Matt 28:19
19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

We should be baptized, it is a rebirth and stands for dying [our old life] under the water [is cleaning our sins] rising out of the water [new life] .

I was just baptized almost a month ago =]!

Mark 16:16
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Baptism is not part of salvation. Salvation only comes from God when you ask for Jesus to come into your life and forgive your sins. Baptism is a public sign that you have accepted Jesus as your savior and is a declaration of your faith.

I know many people believe that Baptism is part of salvation, but I am not one of them. I believe baptism is a picture, an outward showing to others of your inward change. It is a picture to show others that you have accepted Jesus, his gift of dying and raising from the grave three days later. When we are baptized in my church, our pastor makes it very clear to everyone present that the process of baptism does not finish or complete anything. Christ finished it on the cross.

Baptism symbolizes the cleanliness of our past sins. I guess what I am saying is that when you are submerged into the water (this is full body water baptism) it represents the dying of our sins and our sins being "washed" away. Now the emergence represents the born-again being. I can't really explain it by writing. The born-again Christian is the person who has confessed and who has been washed of his/her sins and are starting his/her life as a new being in Christ and not of this world.

Baptism is an outward confession of an inward faith. You do baptism in obedience to Christ but it is not needed for salvation, if you die on the way to being baptized you do not go to Hell. It is a symbol of our death to sin, burial and resurrection into Christ.

Baptism is not any part of salvation. Baptism is supposed to be our first act of obedience to God after getting saved. It is an outward picture of an inward change. Salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ alone...nothing else.

When the thief who was crucified along side Jesus accepted him as his savior Jesus told him that he would join him in paradise. The thief was not baptized yet Jesus told him he would go to heaven when he died.

Luk 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

Luk 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
