What do you think about what Jesus said at Mark 10:11

"Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her."

....and why is it very few Christian Churches today teach divorce and remarriage as adultery?

How do you interpret Mark 10:11??

Who in their right mind would mark me down for this reply but a religious zealot?

Qustion was: Why should priests be allowed to practice molesting children while in seminary?
It would mean that they either: A) Get really good at it so they can do it full time when they attain priesthood, or B) They'll get their fulfill and be tired of it by the time they attain priesthood. Should we take the chance?

My Answer was:

some of them don't just practice...they are experts.

It's a darn shame...and shame on those that cover it up in higher levels of the churches. This is not only against what they believe and teach others, but against the spirit of man, in so much as our children are our future...what we do to them today they take with them for the rest of their lives. For them it's a life sentence.

Help me build this bridge, friends - what can we all agree on? All suggestions welcome.

I would offer that we can all agree that we are passionate about the things we believe in.

If an atheist believes that when we die, we just cease to exist, but a Christian believes in heaven and hell, doesn't the atheist need more faith? If the atheist is right, the Christian will suffer the same fate and won't really be hurt by his beliefs. But if the Christian is right, the atheist is sure going to be sorry! So shouldn't the atheist, with so much at stake, be 100% absolutely sure of his beliefs, since he has so much more to lose?

(This question isn't meant to be offensive towards anyone, so please don't flip out on me if you're an avid Christian. I'm not meaning to bash anyone)

I'm just at that point in my life where I don't believe in God anymore. And, it's really starting to depress me. I feel like I outgrew God, and it really scares me without that security of an afterlife, that feeling that someone is watching over you, etc. Life feels pretty pointless. It's life-shattering to go against everything you've been told since you were a baby. It's frightening venturing into the unknown without that warm, fuzzy feeling of having a supreme being watching over me.

I'm not as afraid for myself as I am for my parents and loved ones. I'm so afraid of death.

Did you, fellow agnostics or athiests go through a depression stage whenever you started to question (or stopped believing entirely in) god?

My cousin tried it once but he didn't get very far. He said that there was even a liscencing for it. I don't really think Ghoust hunters get paid except for what they profit off of books and being on T.V. unless they actually charge somebody to go into their house and hunt.

When my class said good-bye to me on my last day in Edinburg, I learned the feeling of having true friends. During the first few weeks following Hurricane Katrina, my family and I stayed in Edinburg, Texas, with my Uncle Luke. After two weeks had gone by, my parents enrolled me in the seventh grade class at St. Joseph’s Catholic School. From the day I arrived, my classmates were very kind to me and made me feel that I was a part of the class. Having heard a week later that it was safe to return to New Orleans, my father told me and the rest of my family we were going home. On hearing this I was overjoyed, but I also felt an inkling of sadness because returning home meant leaving my newfound friends. The day of my departure arrived quite quickly, yet it seemed to drag on forever; but finally after the bell ending lunch rang, the time came for me to leave. I, practically dragging my feet, was slowly walking back to my classroom after emptying out my locker; and as I turned the corner, I saw all my classmates, quiet as church mice, huddled outside the room. At first I didn’t know what to think. I told them earlier that they didn’t have to make a big deal over my departure; but by looking at some of their very disgruntled expressions, it seemed as if they were going to. After what felt like an eternity, one of the girls in the middle of the group gradually approached me and said in a very meek voice, “We got you something for your birthday next week”; she then revealed a backpack imprinted with the school seal and a birthday card signed by all my classmates and gave it to me. As soon as I said thank you, they all suddenly ran up to me and began shaking my hand and hugging any part of my body in reach. They also were all saying how much they were going to miss me and were begging me not to leave. At this point I lost all sanity and began embracing them as tightly as I could. I was almost in tears when I was saying that I would never forget them and was going to miss them more than they could imagine. As I was doing this, I realized something: they must genuinely care about me to be getting this upset over my departure. I never before in my life had friends make me feel so cared about; and accompanying this feeling, was a great happiness I had never experience before either. Then, the connection hit me: the reason I was feeling so happy over this big commotion was because I had true friends who genuinely cared about me; and as it is said, there is no greater joy than having true friendship. After the final good-byes were said, I, having learned a feeling I would not soon forget, walked out to the car and began my journey home.

I'm not Jewish, but that doesn't mean I've never been owed an apology by someone who is. I think this is a great holiday and I'm even going to do it myself this year.

Do most Jews just not think to extend the practice to non-Jews? Or is there a more specific reason?

Sorry this sounds so arrogant, haha.

I believe in the power of prayer, individual and corporate.
I also believe in having people lay hands upon the sick.
I know those 2 statements will come up, so I decided to address them up front.
Whether or not you believe in the above mentioned, my real question is:

Do you give details of your prayer request when asking for prayer? Or do you say that you have an unspoken prayer request?

I've struggled with this. I would love to give the details to people know exactly what to pray about, but on the other hand, I don't want to give 'birth' to that sickness by confessing it with my mouth. Plus, sadly there are those who use the details given in prayer as an opportunity to gossip.

Let's just say for now, that I have an unspoken prayer request for my son tomorrow. He's facing a serious doctors appt.

Can you help me with some scriptural backing as to why you do or don't?

thank you!

Dear God:
I know that I'm a sinner. I deserve Hell. But You sent Jesus to die for my sins. I believe that He died and rose again. I ask you now to forgive my sins, once an for all. I now receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Personal Saviour. Please come into my heart and save me, Help me to know I am saved and live for You, the rest of my life. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen.
