The best definition of rude to me is being aware of what another person desires or expects in terms of behavior and deliberately and maliciously violating those expectations.
For example, if you know that your mother and father dislike the use of profanity but you use it around them deliberately (even as an adult) I would feel this is rude.
This is NOT the same as having a (polite) disagreement with someone. We'll go back to my first example.
Let's say I disagree with mom and dad and we use profanity in our own household and my parents know about this but we don't do it while in THEIR house. I would feel they were offbase if they classed us as "rude" in general. What we do in our own household isn't hurting them or causing them distress.
Avoiding rudeness does NOT mean "political correctness"..it just means not DELIBERATELY setting out to cause hurt to another, whether physical (as in kids who hit other kids or shove them) or emotional (as in my first example). Rudeness is about malicious INTENT.

Depends on what race and/or sex you are talking to. The one lady said not respecting boundaries, but each "special interest" group now thinks its their very own special right to set boundaries for "others" to respect.
Of course, this is BS, but people will consider you rude for all kinds of reasons; and you cannot concern yourself with all of them. Perhaps anything that violates "Do Unto Others as you would have them do unto you.", might just be a good guide as to what is rude. Certainly not respecting every PC Rule ala mode, as it were.

People who cut into line after you have been waiting patiently for your turn.
People who jump in front of you with an entire cart of groceries when you have two items.
People who interupt you constantly when you are trying to make a point.
People who chew gum and crack it while you are trying to concentrate in the library.
People who have no consideration for others.
