Why there are silent letters in the English language. What are the rules of the silent letters and how you can know which letter is silent or not in any words?

With Christmas, the combination of three consonants are hard to pronounce, so the t tends to disappear.

But there aren't many hard and fast rules.

The English language is filled with many rules and also many words that break those rules. The only thing I can say is continue to listen to native speakers and as you learn to speak English you learn those rules. I don't recommend trying to memorize rules for learning to speak English.

english is hard, theres not spefic reason for a letter to be slient, english has lots of "exceptions" to rules, you just learn the language by ear

The english word "Christmas" comes from the root word "Christ" in other words "Jesus Christ"

Christmas is the celebration of Jesus Christ's birth!
