How do you know for sure?

I asked a question about why the Bible didn't prohibit child marriage among the Jews (and YES, they did practice it), and got a bunch of answers stating that since that happened in Biblical times it was all right! I thought religious people believed in unchanging, eternal standards of morality, so what gives?!? Either child marriage is wrong, or it isn't! If it is wrong TODAY, it was wrong back then, too. If it was RIGHT back then, then it should be allowed today (but of course it ISN'T right... I'm just trying to make a point, here...) Same with slavery; people think it was o.k. for Jews to own slaves way back when, but somehow today it's magically wrong... folks, make up your damn minds!

I used to think so but the more I learn about Islam the more I've come to believe they're different.

Gods son is Jesus and Allah has muhammad as a prophet, two completely different prophets.

Does the bible speak of Allah or muhammad? Does the Quran speak of Yahweh and Jesus?

If Allah isn't the same as the Christian God who is he?

Check out this question about how eyebrows evolved:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Av__bdevs3xXXZUL8fuKhgXpy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20060619202612AAjHzga

One person said they evolved for non-verbal communication, several said it was protection against sweat, some said light absorbtion there were many other answers & few of them had sources.

Read the different answers! First of all - this just goes to show that 90% of the theories associated with evolution are just people pulling crap that sounds good out of their behind.

So 2 questions:
1) How evolution can be true if there are so many contradictory theories about how and why it happened?

2) How exactly did eyebrows prevent death? Sure, if we didn't have them we might have to wipe a dust particle out of our eyes more often (I don't think so b/c I never find dust trapped in MY eyebrows) - but how is this going to be naturally selected?

If it's true overall it must be true in the particulars.

Okay, this isn't just some stupid PETA-bashing thing. I know it sounds horrible, but there are distinct simlarities between PETA and the nazis. They both have crazy ideals that they expect all others to live up to and agree with. Also, and this may shock some people, but they BOTH want to destroy that which they think is "imperfect." We all know that nazis killed millions of Jews, but what everyone might NOT know is that one of PETA's goals, for a LONG time, has been the total eradication of domesticated animals. The worst part is that they don't see what's wrong with it. Knowing this, doesn't PETA seem to be quite similar to the nazis?

Just so you know, I didn't just ask this for the heck of it. It was my idea for my English AP research paper.

Abrahamic religions seem to feel that these practices are evil and these peoples should be assimilated into western religion and culture. Atheists might feel that their practices are superstitious and ignorant. What do you think?

Okay, I asked this in General but should have asked it here--

If you leave a alone dog in hot a car even for a few minutes, you get a hefty fine. If the dog dies, you go to court for animal abuse. This is right-- animals shouldn't suffer.

But this lady leaves her 2 year old child in a 150 degree car for eight hours, the poor baby dies, and the woman doesn't even get in trouble? The people on the news say that this "mother" suffered enough-- but this sets a precedent for every other death that happens this way. "Let your kid die in a car, and it's fine with the law. That's just an accident-- not negligent or bad."

Also...how can any good mother forget that they have a living, breathing child right behind them in the seat? If you actually care about your kids and love them-- how does one let this happen?

How can this woman get away with burning her child to death in a car? How can anyone forget a child in a car for eight hours? Why is she not serving many years in jail?

Round and round, round and round

All through the town.

Do you do it just for the money or were there other reasons?

When you're talking to the "customers", are you truthful about things in your life (such as school, hobbies, etc) or is it all made up stories?

Do you ever feel a personal connection toward the "customers" or are you just going through the motions? Do you actually care about them enjoying what you do or is it just about getting their money?

Do you ever get offended or hurt when "customers" treat you like "objects"?

Do you ever notice and/or appreciate when "customers" treat you like a person? Do you see it as sincerity or just trying to get something out of you?

Are you ever aroused or turned on by what you do?

Have you (or would you) ever dated someone you met as a "customer" at work?

How do you react when/if a "customer" recognizes you in the real world? Would you want them to even acknowledge where they've seen you?

Just some things I'm curious about; I appreciate any honest answers.

She had posed a question when we were talking about baptism and the laying on of hands for the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. The question was...Why do I need to have someone lay their hands on my head for a gift that I believe is from God and not man? And if I believe I already have the gift of the Holy Ghost?

How would you answer this question?

The song is "Miss American Pie"

"...Did you write the book of love
And do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so"

"...Well now in the streets the children screamed
The lovers cried and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were broken
And the three men I admire the most
The Father, Son and the Holy Ghost
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died "

How would that be interpreted?
I also heard somewhere that the song was a cover, that someone sang it before she did.

then why atthe end of meetings do they always pray the Lords Prayer? You know the"our Father who art in heaven"
because this is a New testament prayer and there might be muslims, Jews, agnostics or hindus attending meetings so would this not be offensive to them? I' m just sayin'....
