When even Jesus says " If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true" (John 5:31)...

I realize that every second that passes is one in which I am closer to death. How do elderly people cope with the fact that everyday might be their last. I understand that even young people can die from accidents and diseases, but to the old it is inevitable. I don't know about what is going to happen to me and have a scientific mind, so I just can't believe in some fairy-tale land in the sky where people go when they pass. What do you all think?

Oh....only about 90% of the Christian world, both now, or in the entire history of Christianity.

From the time of the Apostles:

"And they shall baptise the little children first. And if they can answer for themselves, let them answer. But if they cannot, let their parents answer or someone from their family." Hippolytus of Rome, Apostolic Tradition, 21 (c. A.D. 215).

"[T]herefore children are also baptized." Origen, Homily on Luke, XIV (A.D. 233).

"For this reason, moreover, the Church received from the apostles the tradition of baptizing infants too." Origen, Homily on Romans, V:9 (A.D. 244).

ALL of the Church did for the first 1,500 years of her existence.

Today, this would include:

Roman Catholics
Eastern Orthodox
The Anglican Communion
Lutherans
Methodists
Arminians
Wesleyans
Presbyterians
United Church of Christ
Evangelical and Reformed Churches
The Congregationalist Churches

And somehow all these Christians are WRONG??? How??

are you intelligent?

are you part of the unified field?

if yes to both is there some reasonable conclusion that the unified field is intelligent.

is every part of the universe within the unified field?

if 3 yes', could that mean the universe is intelligent?

Source: The new physics of healing by Dr Deepak Chopra.

if the universe were intelligent would that make it omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent.

Christians have been telling me that the whole Bible is inspired by God, Please where did you learn this from.

In Mark 1:15, Jesus said, "Repent and believe the Gospel", he did not say repent and believe in the Bible or repent and believe in the Torah, "but repent and believe the Gospel"

Where does it say in the Bible that it is inspired by God ?

Why so much hate. For example:

"I notice that most people are Christians. I also notice that most people are dumb. When I meet someone who claims to be an Atheist, they usually are very intelligent"

"The religious are limitless"

"We are just not so open minded that our brains fall out. "

I could go on, but there is a character limit.
_____

Theist or atheist why respond to any question with a judmental and nasty comment? Could I also find similiar statements made by theist? Sure, but I am questioning this particular group, why not?

What's your favourite and next favourite..etc.? Do you have your own argument that you'd like to share?

1. Occam's Razor (God is much harder to explain than any
scientific theories, therefore the theories are most likely the correct explanations)
2. no evidence (well there isn't any)
3. evolution (God didn't create each species all at once, there was one common ancestor some 4 billion years ago which evolved)
4. contradictions and fallacies in Holy Books (there's a lot!)
5. the number of diverse religions in the world (not every religion can be right according to them)
6. poor morality and violence shown in Holy Books (isn't God supposed to be perfect?)

All I can think of right now.

I did have a spontaneous Christian Kundalini awakening (Baptism of the Holy Spirit) a few months ago although its settled down and on more of an even keel right now, but it was extremely powerful and overwhelming when it happened, very very positive overall though, it changed my life forever and crucified my old self to Christ. What about you, how did you feel, and what did it entail?

This is to those who believe in God. Do you believe God cares about the world, or just the US? Is it wrong of a Muslim to say "GOD BLESS THE WORLD" instead of just focusing on the US? There is one male on here (that's right, having the equipment doesn't make you a man) who keeps complaining that Muslims aren't saying God Bless the USA. First he was complaining that no Muslims speak out, and then when he was forwarded a bunch of links by a bunch of people, both Muslim and NonMuslim alike, he started complaining and still is complaining that the Muslims won't say "God Bless America". Why is he so angry that we are concerned about the world and are asking God to bless the world? WHy does he put himself above the people who can't even afford to be online or eat by demanding that he is blessed first when that is not the attitude anyone who believes in God should have? Am I wrong for caring about the world (and yes, I do my part, I'm just not going to brag about it), not just us?

Don't the Christians claim that god has revealed himself to them in many ways (the bible, that "feeling in their heart", creation, and prayer, etc.) and that they know their god exists?
Well doesn't this "revelation" cancel out the all important free will?
Or is it that the god can't reveal itself directly in person (or thing, whatever you consider god)?
It has to reveal itself indirectly and hint at its existence rather than coming out and saying it and showing you?

Relatives are always giveing my kids things I don't let them have, or things that are not age appropriate. I also get gifts that I do not use. These gifts are not cheap, and I'd rather no get anything then another gift that I end up giveing away. I had the idea of a family gift, or atleast something for the kids play room. Would it be wrong of be to ask, so as to not get a reapeat of past years? These are not relatives, we see often, so I was thinking of saying " I know it's hard for you to pick out gifts from so far away, and I found something that the kids,( or the family) would really enjoy." or " I found a store that has some really nice things, I would love it if you could pick out something for the kids, ( or something the whole family can enjoy together)
