Why so much hate. For example:

"I notice that most people are Christians. I also notice that most people are dumb. When I meet someone who claims to be an Atheist, they usually are very intelligent"

"The religious are limitless"

"We are just not so open minded that our brains fall out. "

I could go on, but there is a character limit.
_____

Theist or atheist why respond to any question with a judmental and nasty comment? Could I also find similiar statements made by theist? Sure, but I am questioning this particular group, why not?

I wanted to see if atheist think they cannot be a bigot and impose stereotypes on others.

Just because 90% of the people in america are religous doesn't meant they are limitless.

That is like saying most black men are criminals because the majority of the prison population is made up of black men.

Error: "The religious are limitless" is not an insult. In America, 90% of people are religious. This is a simple statement of fact.

My statement still holds true. What makes the religious limitless? A christian can grasp the concepts of science the same way an atheist can. Are you implying that scientist, doctors, and chemist etc are atheist. Where does it say that has to be an requirement to have that profession?

Usually can be used as a stereotype.

"Lawyers are usually snakes"
"Cops are usually pigs"

Usually is based on ones own personal experiences. If usually is used as an adverb then that is one thing:

"I usually go for a walk"

When it is used to describe a group of people that is another:

"People who wear black are usually satanist"

Rudeness and idiocy isn't limited to religion or irreligion. There are atheists who are assholes, and there are theists who are assholes as well. There are atheists who are kind and compassionate, and there are theists who are compassionate and kind. There are atheists that are indifferent, and there are theists are indifferent.

The way someone responds has a lot to do with character. Someone who is a serious intellectual is probably going to give a concise, non-sarcastic, non-inflammatory answer as opposed to somebody who is an obnoxious armchair philosopher.

The idea is to get a reaction (to which you have done perfectly). People tend to lean on generalizations in here and the groups they generalize back them up by doing exactly as the generalization claims. This isn't proof of the whole group, of course, just of the individual who is reacting to it. But overall all sides will claim this as "proof" of Reality, when Reality shows us this isn't the case. Example: I have seen some of the Atheists in here who do this claim their parents are Christian, or a spouse is of a Religion.... I am betting they don't treat their loved ones the same way they treat strangers in here. Same goes for the Christians who attack Non-Christians... I have seen some claim parents, relatives, friends or even children are Non-Christian... I am betting if they treated them the same way they treat other Non-Christians in here, then they don't have ANY kind of honest relationship with them. It would be based on fear, or a mutual hatred for the actions of the other side (from both sides), etc....

Character limits suck. ^_^ Especially through the email system they have here.

I'm a christian and don't push religion on anyone. I will discuss my beliefs if asked, otherwise I let people be. I've said this before here and will say it again. The God I worship gave us all a freewill to chose what we believe. While I don't agree with homosexuality, I am also open minded enough to accept a persons choice of sexual preference. If anyone wants to bash anyone or anything it should be the way the government does things. There are positive and negative people on both sides of the fence. It is the closed minded people who can't accept others point of view without being critical of others.

You make a good point. Some atheists ARE simply lazy and immoral. Others are thoughtful and sincere. Sometimes the thoughtful ones encounter a question so ignorant that they are at a loss for how to respond. It may upset them that there appears to be no way to communicate rationally with the asker. That's when they may lose it and resort to insults. Unfortunately, then you can't tell one kind of atheist from another.

And as you said, it's true among believers too.

Theists do make negative comments about us. I mean, saying we're going to hell for denying God's love (even though many atheists are perfectly decent people, like most Christians) isn't very kind, even if you think its the truth. They also claim that we are communistic, evil, liberal (which they think is an insult), and so on. Theists say we're hypocrites and many other things. Both sides throw insults, but I have to say, its my opinion that the theists use worse ones. And by the way, "The religious are limitless" is not an insult. In America, 90% of people are religious. This is a simple statement of fact.

"When I meet someone who claims to be an Atheist, they usually are very intelligent"

Usually isn't exactly a stereotype. It doesn't define the whole group. It says usually. Trust me I know several retarded atheists here that don't even have basic reading comprehension. By the way, atheist is not capitilized.

Most people are dumb, please see the many examples of people dying due to vending machines. Most of the nation is Christian and that is a fact.

Maybe you should look up stereotypes.

Those aren't all stereotypes. There have been several studies that show an inverse relationship between higher IQs and less religion.

Not sure I understand #2 - that sounds like a positive stereotype to me.

#3 - is a famous quote, I think it was Sagan or Dawkins

A lot of generalizations right here. I do not get pissed off whilst you hyperlink atheists to communists. Communism wasn't fairly a nasty inspiration, it simply obtained perverted (similar to Christianity) by means of the grasping and vigor-looking for. I'm no communist, however we definitely must do extra for the fewer advantaged and no more for the firms who're hanging Americans out of labor. Just for the list: The simplest time I get pissed off by means of Christians is once they declare they're being "oppressed and persecuted" by means of our "Liberal society." What a crock of sh*t. What they are fairly whining approximately is they are looking to persecute everybody else by means of forcing their doctrines into legislation and the Constitution continues slapping them down. I additionally get a bit of worn out of being instructed I'm dull, ignorant or silly seeing that I do not suppose in gods. I do not always wish to abolish faith, however sure, I suppose we're by no means going to mature as a species till we get the devout fans of each and every religion beneath manage, and break out from mythology more commonly. Look on the debate on this nation over "Intelligent Design," that is Creationism in sheep's apparel. It's the best way for the religionists to get the bible into publicly-funded faculties. We are the one nation on this planet in which this debate is even taking location. It's shameful. Religion works very difficult towards technology, seeing that if there are medical factors for the whole thing, they are not able to factor to a phenomenon and say "Behold! The vigor of God," they usually are not able to have enough money to lose that type of impact. And answering questions approximately gods is my approach of fostering debate and getting folks to suppose. The unfastened trade of recommendations, and the proper to disagree, is what continues our democracy animated.

Because the internet is a refuge for the bigoted. Explore YA a little. You'll see right and leftwing nuts. Atheist anti-Christian whackos, anti-semites, anti-Muslim fanatics, conspiracy theorists, Christians who tolerate nothing but Fundamentalist Christianity, misogynists, racists, homophobes, and people who just like to rain on someone else's parade because they can.
