What Lovely and Angel said ... someone overly concerned with decorum and propriety. It can also be someone afraid to swing out of their shell ... afraid to try new things ... someone afraid of looking ridiculous or being laughed at. A couple of examples: If you've ever watched Polyanna with Hayley Mills, or Polly with Keisha Knight-Pulliam ... Aunt Polly is a prude. Also, the term 'prude' does tend to have a sexual connotation to it. In Grease, with Olivia Newton-John, Sandy was considered prudish because she was proper and didn't 'put out'. The other character, Patty, was considered prudish because she was just plain Stepford!!! A lot of times people who are really shy get called prudes just because they are afraid to, or just don't know how to, be free around other people.

A prude is a 'figure of speech' (a word given and used instead of the english given word) used to define someone who is very restrained. prude (Old French prude)[1] is a person who is described as being overly concerned with decorum or propriety. They may be perceived as being uncomfortable with sexuality, nudity, alcohol, drug use or mischief. It can also refer to a person that has little sexual experience, despite the fact they may want to engage in such behavior.
They are usually reared or taught against behaviors that do not appear to be proper. Most women who are 'prudish' cover up in their dress attire, do not use profanity, are very inexperienced with matters of the world, have little or no exposure to the world. In today's culture we call them "stuck up". In my class, I have girls who don't allow foolish talk around them, they keep themselves separate from the loud mouths, they don't joke around or play, they are very serious minded....

You need to look that one up on Google or in a dictionary. If someone has called you a prude, you need to know what it is. It is not as much of an insult as it is a compliment if someone is pushing you to do somethign that you consider wrong or distasteful

Someone who is stuck-up, not willing to try new things or take risks.
It generally has sexual or bodily connotations. So, if someone calls you a prude it may mean that you won't undress in front of other people or you won't have sex with your boyfriend.
