1. How offended would YOU be if I tried to convert you to Atheism?
2. Clearly if you're living in the USA and have the internet you can't be suffering all that much.
Please understand that it's not a question of wanting to slap you, it's a question of [non]religious freedom, which if I'm not mistaken is what most of the Western World is built on. I'll respect yours if you respect mine. But if you're trying to convert me, you clearly don't respect mine.
Rather than waste your time most likely trying to fruitlessly convert other people to *your* system of beliefs, spend that time making the world a little better.

Sister, the answer has to do with this being a group of people who have been here a while. As a result the atheists and people of other faiths have been bombarded with people who are trying to convert them out of love. The difficulty is that some of them also do it in unloving ways.
When Paul was in Athens, he shared the truth with them and when they didn't receive that truth he left. Our responsibility is to share the truth. These people have heard the truth and like the Athenians they have rejected it. Like Paul, we must respect their decision. When we don't they get legitimately angry.
Unfortunately people who are new to this group don't know this and often are unfairly attacked.

I'm neither going to slap you, spit on you or beat you up. Just because one is not Christian does not mean one is prone to violence. (Or that Christians are all nonviolent for that fact).
What skin is it off your nose if I choose not to believe? Why do you want me to hurt you? Does that make you a marter in your churches eyes?
I choose to live the life I do. I have a personal relationship with Deity you could not begin to comprehend. I don't degrade you for not understanding, instead I am pleased that you have found a path for yourself.
I don't need save my soul. That's your liturgy and dogma, not mine. You're entitled to yours, and I'm happy to let you live it.
Can you return that favor?

I don't *hate* you for trying to convert me. I find it amusing that people still believe in the goofy little fable of that dead Jewish guy. It means nothing to me, other than the fact that it is used to oppress citizens of my country.
I also feel a tad sorry for you that you do not wake up from your dream and find reality. It is much nicer than any fairy tale.
But... live in yours if you wish to. Just leave me out of it.

That's fine that you feel this way. It's just ignorant to think your religion is the only right one out of the thousands in the world. And also intolerant to shove your beliefs at me.
