...from unsaved sinners?

Wouldn't this be a form of double jeopardy?

If Jesus supposedly died for all men's sins, it is obvious that He could not save all men since more men have died in unbelief than have gone to glory through faith in Christ. This of course would imply that God is not Omnipotent and that Christ gained only a partial victory at the cross. Therefore, the view of Universal atonement that God punished Jesus for all of men's sins, is not tenable.

God punished Jesus for His Elect and for no one else. "She will bear a son, and you shall call His name Jesus for He will save His people from their sins." (Matt. 1:21).

The Bible teaches that Christ's redeeming work was intended to render complete satisfaction for the elect and it actually secured full salvation for the Elect. "I lay down my life for the sheep" (John 10:15). "I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine" (John 17:9).

Because those unsaved sinners have a choice: Accept salvation offered by Christ's death and resurrection, or stand trial and be condemned for all you have done.

Incredible to believe that anybody would choose not to believe in Christ, deny God, and choose to stand trial for all they have done and continue to curse God. You may want to read up on double jeopardy. . .

At the lowest common denominator, belief in Christ is an insurance policy. If he exists and you choose to believe, you are covered by God's grace and you enter the Kingdom of God. The insurance company (Christ) pays your damages and stands in your place. On the other hand, with no insurance, damages come from your pocket and leave you financially broke. You are accountable to the parties you have damaged and also to government who will charge you $500 for not having any insurance, creditors can force you into bankruptcy, and you pay for your sins the rest of your life.

This has nothing to do with double jeopardy. Double jeopardy means that the court cannot try you twice for the same crime. God's judgment comes once, and it is final.

God did not punish Jesus He knew there was only one sacrifice perfect enough to cover our sins and that was His Own Son's blood. To receive the benefit of the sacrifice we have only to repent and accept Jesus as our Lord and savior. Without repentance there is no Jesus without Jesus there is no forgiveness and without forgiveness there must be punishment for disobedience (sin). If you are unsaved you have not been forgiven and you owe a debt that has been paid by Jesus but not for you.

God doesn't punish Jesus, sinners do. He will suffer for the sins committed if a person repents. If a person repents and then sins again he cruxifies Christ again. If he doesn't repent, he must pay for his own sins (sweat blood, so to speak). "Forever saved" is a false concept. One must endure to the end and then salvation is assured. The poor and the needy must be taken care of " I was an hungered and ye gave me meat"
You must not just be good, you must do good. If you aren't good for something, then you are good for nothing.

John 12:32 If I be lifted up from this earth, will draw, (drag), all men unto me,
12:31 NOW is the judgment of this world: NOW SHALL the prince of this world, SATAN, be cast out.
Right NOW here on earth, done away with forever and ever. When he is gone then we all WILL be perfect.

II Peter3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that ANY should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance.
3:15 An account that the longsuffering of our Lord IS SALVATION; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you:

There are so many beautiful scriptures that say Jesus has put Satan under his feet by HIS blood.

These were just off the top of my head & it's late and I'm tired.

The Wal-Mart answer is just toooooo funny. I can see God saying: "Now why didn't I think of that & just give them a gift card instead. You don't get the gift till you turn in the MERCHANDISE. I AM bought with the blood of Jesus.

I didn’t mean to offend the answerer but I could just picture it. It is so great it's amusing.
She is really so right and gives an excellent explanation for many of the answers here.

Here is her answer:
Think of it this way. If your parents buy you a Wal-Mart gift card to provide you with the means to decorate your new home, and you don't accept the gift and decide to pay for everything yourself, the items haven't been paid for twice.
The same thing happens with the gift of salvation. We can either accept God's way, or we choose to follow our own path.

So the analogy is:

Think of it this way. If your Father buy you a free gift with His atoning blood to provide you with the means to decorate your life, and you don't accept the gift and decide to pay for everything yourself, with your own blood, the items haven't been paid for twice. Right you have just exchanged the blood of Christ with man’s blood.
The same thing happens with the gift of salvation. We can either accept God's way, or we choose to follow our own path.
Doesn't this replace the atoning blood of Christ with ours blood?
Jesus came to be sacrificed to replace the sacrifices of the Old Testament. His blood washed away all the sins of the world.
Lev 17:12: For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I HAVE given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for you souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

As nckmcgwn answered the question: “Why couldn’t he do it in a more “loving” way?”
My answere to that is: What greater love IS this?

God is my pilot, I'm just a co-pilot.

livingtheword:
So it really isn't a gift at all and when you accept it you don't DIE?

scotty_84116: So you are saying that salvation is ours, a free gift, but we pay for it all our life (with our blood by-resisting repenting, doing right) then it is'nt free nor a gift and it wasn't really paid for by Jesus' life. So Jesus didn't die for our sins, we do???

The Lord Jesus suffered the full penalty of all our guilt, hence it is written "The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin" (1 John 1:7)
As the Judge of all the earth, God will yet take vengeance on all His foes. As the Father of His family, God maintains discipline over all His children.

The Father did not lay on Jesus "all" of man's sin.

"All blasphemy against the Son of Man shall be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven, neither in this age nor in the next." Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit = calling the Holy Spirit a liar. What is the Holy Spirit doing right now but testifying to every one of the 6.5 billion people on this planet that they--each one--need Jesus as their Savior. Most of them are calling the Holy Spirit a liar when they hear that. THAT is not forgiven.

And, as with those in heaven, so with those in hell: we are all "rewarded" according to our actual work.

He won't, he says that if you ask him he will forgive you and not remember the sin or keep a record of it. Jesus died so that the sins we commit now can be forgiven by his sacrificial death, before Jesus their was no redemption for sins only Thur animal sacrifice, he ended that and now we can ask him and he will forgive this was the reason he carried our sins on his back to give us a chance to have everlasting life.

God did not punish Jesus - Jesus was an atoning sacrifice. Just as the heart of a Jew under the old law mattered - so does the heart of a Christian.

God didn't "punish" Jesus for mans sins. Jesus GAVE his life for us. Took all of our sins upon himself so that if we believed in him we might live with God in Paradise after the Tribulation. "No man cometh unto the Father but by Me". So if you don't accept Christ as your Savior (free will) then you are not one of his children and your name will not be in the Book of Life. You , therefore, will not go to Heaven, but your sins have already been paid for with the Blood of Christ. You just must accept Him.

He does not exact payment, however if you refuse the gift he will not force you to take it, that is your choice. The gift of your resurrected body is going to be with out any conditions you will just receive your body but his taking the sins upon himself is going to be your choice to let him or pay the price yourself for the sins.
