i don't believe that poeple can raise themselves from the dead, take me to a better life when i die, in exchange for favours while i live, virgins are not my idea of paradise, i have yet to find anyone who deserves to live more or less then me and the looney tunes feel the need to have a word to decribe me.

Let's assume that "a" God created the universe. this takes all of the science arguments out of play.
What makes your God or Goddess prevail over someone elses belief?
Knowing that all books are written by man and then claimed to be "inspired".
What makes your holy book more prevailent than any other that makes the claim?
And for the religions that make the claim of sole "truth"
Why is faith more important than what we can investigate (see, touch, smell, hear.) when there are so many choices?
What makes your faith the "clear" choice?

Whoopi states that in the south, where Vick comes from, dog fighting is normal.

Not only did Vick, the Atlant Falcons football player, participate in dog fighting, he tortured his losing dogs....

What are your thoughts?

And if you are against dog fighting...what is the difference between dog fighting and hunting? Is it humane to chase Bambi through the woods with a semi-automatic weapon gun with a sight? If you were truly going for sport, wouldn't you run after Bambi with a knife, or homemade bow and arrow?

Is it humane to participate in dog fighting? Is it humane to hunt wild animals for sport?

I ask in R&S because this is the most active site...and want a "Christian" perspective.

I'm asking for some responses that include some kind of response against evolution. What I'm going to do is take all of these responses and post them in another question with rebuttals so any and all questions regarding evolution are answered.

I hope that everyone posting will take this seriously and

a) be civil

b) provide good responses that don't quote the bible, and use real-world evidence or reasoning

c) will check back in...uhhh.... 4 hours or so for the question with the responses. You can bookmark my profile page or something like that if you'd like to.

Please don't respond and then not check back, that is very immature and intellectually dishonest.

The verse often used by those who do not accept the trinity or divinity of Christ. translated: Deut. 6,4 "Hear O Isreal, the Lord our God , the Lord is One". But is that the real translation?....
"But when we look more closely, we see that Adonai, often translated “LORD,” is plural, “my Lords.” Eloheynu, often translated “God,” is also plural, “our Gods.” A literal translation of the Shma would be, “… my Lords our Gods my Lords one.” Three mentions of God. A perfect representation of the Blessed Trinity. The second mention of God, moreover, is Eloheynu, “our Gods,” not Elohai, “my Gods,” suggesting the Second Person, who would open the Torah to the whole world. “One” reminds us that God is one Blessed Trinity."

I'm 16 and I am in highschool. I have my eyebrow pierced, and everytime I do PE, I have to change out of my unifrom, put on my track pants and t shirt, and for some stupid reason I have to remove my eyebrow piercing. Our school has forbade us from bringing in deoderant, and furtheremore, we are not even allowed to shower afterwards, we have to simply get back in our uniform, and go to class. This so stupid. It's alright taking my piercing out, but putting it back in is very painful.
I don't think it should be compulsary to do PE (Gym)
Am I the only one who hates PE? Do you agree wth me that it is stupid that I have to remove my piercing, and that we cant bring deodorant and shower?
I get enough excercise because everyday, I cycle to school, 3 kilometres (or a little under 2 miles), and now and again, like once a week I cycle 8 kilometres (5 miles), and stop to take a drink of water, and cycle back the 8 kilometres back home (5 miles).
i'd love to hear your opinion on this, thanks

If you disagree, is it because you believe that...
-there is no God?
-there is a God, but the Bible is mostly inaccurate or false?
-there is a God, and God is so omniprescent and powerful and infinite that the Bible only contains a tiny portion of what there is to know about God?
-other?

Going to mass or church one day a week isn't being relgious.
Do you read the Bible everyday, and actaully practice what you learn?
Do you smoke, get drunk, agree with abortion, go to wars, steal, etc. even though the Bible says not to?
I find alot of people claim they are religious, but don't even know the first or last book of the Bible.

So really, HOW BIG OF A ROLE DOES RELIGION PLAY IN YOUR LIFE?

I have this problem dealing with people of other races when I converse with someone they will end up saying that I sound like a white boy but African Americans say that I'm educated. Using proper diction does not make anyone white.

I don't have many friends. I find it difficult to talk to people. Previously I used to stay at home in front of the TV / internet / drinking beer etc.. but lately I have started going to places by myself.. clubs, sporting activities, museums etc... I do what I like and no longer care what anyone thinks.. sometimes I spend the whole night in the club without talking to anyone.. sometimes I meet people but these aquaintances are only temporary... I stopped drinking alcohol.. now I only order juice.. red bull etc... when I am by myself I can observe other people much more and I have noticed that friends are usually just sheep copying each other...

I wrote my thoughts here... let me know what you think or share your experiences.. I would be interested to hear about it

I just started sixth form today, and i found it horrible. I wasn't very nervous, and, although i chatted to people, i found a lot of people unapproachable.

It's all girls, and they all came up from the high school, so nearly all of them know eachother. I hung around with a few girls, but they were not on my level at all.

I went to private school before and got on so well with everybody, but now this place is huge, its just so hard.

Obviously, its easier to talk to people when they're on their own, but thats not something that occurs often.

I was fine before!! But i don't want to go for the next two years without an in school social life.

Its not nerves inhibiting me, just please help me!

I really really don't want to go tomorrow, i've never felt like this before in my life.

Please help.

:)

Imagine the buisness they could attract, and the profits they could make. Yes, it would only be legal in Nevada, but at least gay couples can have a certificate, even if it is a fast wedding, just to have as a memento until they can officially get a certificate of marriage/civil union.

I'll start by admitting I know nothing about anything, so hurl away with the insults should you feel compelled.

But it's been proven, at least by correlational data, that the more educated a population is, the less likely it adheres to religious beliefs. Yet, the United States, the most powerful (and, in my opinion, greatest) country in the world is deeply religious.

Question: Is the population of the United States well educated?

Before I start, don't get me wrong.. I respect your religion and what you believe in.

I have been to three different churches (various girlfriends dragged me there).. Catholic, Baptist, and an Atheist church. And within the 3 or 4 hours of sitting there, all three of those churches said the same thing "if your not a devowed _______, your going to hell."

I began to think, if that's the case, we're all pretty much screwed.

Anyway, my question is this.. why are religious people so bent on this is the way it HAS to be. "The way of god", "jesus is the path", etc etc.. "let jesus into your heart", all the rest. I try to explain to people that I am not a devowed anything, and the serious religious people look at me like im the devil's son or something.

Just because I am not religious doesn't make me a bad person, and yet some seriously devowed people look at me like im the anti-christ. What is it about these people?
