Ex-patriot. Used to indicate a national of your country who works abroad legally and without applying for asylum.
Literally it should mean someone who is no longer a patriot, but my experience is that British-expats are some of the most patriotic, if not downright jingoistic, right-wing people I have ever met.

It's short for Expatriate. It means someone living outside his/her own country. Think Marbella. The word comes from the Latin 'ex' - meaning 'out of ' and 'patria' meaning home country ( from which base we get words like patriot and patriotism, repatriate etc
