I generally agree with the idea of giving food instead of cash money that could be used for other things, but since I found out that the new food stamp card doesn't allow for any cash back - cash people used to use for things like shampoo, sanitary supplies, gas money, and so on, I think maybe cash is needed too. I know that some people feel that cash will be used to buy booze or drugs. Although I don't like that idea a lot I have a serious question here about MERCY. Any way I know of many people who do give in a small way to a stranger for whatever, and there are many churches and other organizations that help in some other way, such as clothing donations, but the other day I saw a homeless woman reach in her bag and give another homeless woman, who was barefoot and jumping across the hot pavement in pain, her spare pair of flip flops. I thought that was great!

When I was homeless I always helped other that were also. It is sort of a tight knit community out there.
I still give but am more likely to buy food or even cigarettes for someone than give money. I don't support most destructive habits seeing I can't even afford my own.

I have helped someone who is homeless and still am helping the person. I would do anything to help them even if they didn't ask for help. This person means alot to me.

I give them money ,food and water. Whatever I have with me at the time. I feel like if they really want to spend that 5 bucks I gave them on alcohol and it is gonna make them happy for the night then so be it. Once I give them the cash it is theirs to do as they please.
