I have this problem dealing with people of other races when I converse with someone they will end up saying that I sound like a white boy but African Americans say that I'm educated. Using proper diction does not make anyone white.

It's not racist. Although it could be depending on the person's intent...

It's more along the lines of stereotyping--which is also wrong.

Do you speak as well as you write? If so, I'm surprised that anyone understands a thing you say.
It is not racist to expect white or black people to talk a certain way. For the most part, they do. And that's a fact.
I was one of 10 people (5 white and 5 black) who participated in a study where we were allowed to hear samples of 100 voices and had to write down whether the person was white or black. We all got between 95 and 100 correct. I'm sure we were not all racists.

Probably not racist, but maybe presumptive. Popular culture and society trains us to expect certain things from a person based on their looks.

Don't sweat it. Denying someone a job or refusing to interact with them based on their color would make you a racist. Expecting them to sound a certain way and being surprised when they don't only makes you human.

I like that you don't conform to your friends and talk like them.

Just do what feels natural; they'll all get over it. They're probably just talking idly when they make comments like that.

Plus, have you heard some white people talk? C'mon..

Some people have a problem with whole subject-verb-agreement thing when you have dark brown skin. It is very racist. They'll get over it.
