I'm 16 and I am in highschool. I have my eyebrow pierced, and everytime I do PE, I have to change out of my unifrom, put on my track pants and t shirt, and for some stupid reason I have to remove my eyebrow piercing. Our school has forbade us from bringing in deoderant, and furtheremore, we are not even allowed to shower afterwards, we have to simply get back in our uniform, and go to class. This so stupid. It's alright taking my piercing out, but putting it back in is very painful.
I don't think it should be compulsary to do PE (Gym)
Am I the only one who hates PE? Do you agree wth me that it is stupid that I have to remove my piercing, and that we cant bring deodorant and shower?
I get enough excercise because everyday, I cycle to school, 3 kilometres (or a little under 2 miles), and now and again, like once a week I cycle 8 kilometres (5 miles), and stop to take a drink of water, and cycle back the 8 kilometres back home (5 miles).
i'd love to hear your opinion on this, thanks

Get some antibacterial wet wipes and use them. They will clean you up and keep the odor down until you can get home and shower. I agree, when I was in school PE was an annoyance...mostly because it was a lot of preparation and getting sweaty for too short a time to do much good anyway, and it just interrupted the flow of the academic day. But then I understand their view that a lot of kids might just sit on their butts and never get ANY exercise if it wasn't for PE. And as a culture we need to uphold the idea of healthy body and healthy mind go hand in hand. As for the eyebrow piercing, they want you to not get it accidentally ripped out during a game or sport of some kind, so it's for your protection. Good for you for biking so much, I hope you do that all your life and save gas and stay healthier too. Remember, high school is over in two short years and then no one can ever make you take out your piercing or go to PE again. ;-) Two years goes by faster than you think, so enjoy it while you can.

I understand them making u removing the piercing for safety reasons. I think you should be able to use deoderant and shower after PE however.

It sounds that you don't have a problem with PE or exercisng, but the showering and piercing conditions that go along with it. Given the current increase in obesity, PE sounds like a good idea.

I already hate PE as it is. I'm 13 and we HAVE to bring deodorant, or it's required highly. It is stupid to have to take your piercing out, because you really aren't going to do anything with your head unless you get hit with a ball or something, then it's a health thing, but other than that, it is kind of stupid. The point of PE though is just to get you motivated because a lot of people don't ride a bike or something to school, so it's just a school wide thing.

Good Luck in PE =/

Well, look at it this way for a minute to see where all of the parents/adults are coming from - if you have a piercing and you are playing basketball and someone makes a jump shot and comes down and you are standing too close, if you get hit where your piercing is, you are going to the hospital to get stitches, because that thing got torn off your face by a stray elbow, accident or not. Then there's the whole issue with blood.

As far as the shower goes, a few years back there were hazing problems at colleges where some kids died, and also there are a lot of perverts running around - yes, teachers in schools, so parents don't want their kids naked with their defenses down at school. I don't blame them, just look at the teacher that gor pregnant by her student and the other one that tried to have her husband killed, and we won't even talk about the cheerleader mom.

As for the deodorant, with Columbine (USA) and everything that is going on in airports for security and terrorists, who can blame them. The US has even recently recalled bad toothpaste from China, and a lot of things are flammable, or can be used to make other things, even more dangerous. Your school is doing it to protect you, and its for your own good. If you can't take deodorant, invest in a box of baby wipes or wet naps to freshen up afterwards.

Gym (PE) is a necessary class, because to many kids are allowed to vegetate, maybe not you, but there are many parents out there that really could give 2 cents if there child is obese at 5 years old, because they themselves are too freaking lazy to get up off their big rear ends and put done the doughnut, to motivate their children to be healthy. Its a sad reality, but true. Be thankful that someone cares enough about you to get you ticked off.

I always hated PE. That is disgusting that you can't wash up after wards, what happened to good hygiene? I think you kids should strike until you can wash up and use deodorant!
I understand why they make you take out your piercing. But I do think you should be able to shower after wards.
As much as I hated PE, I do think there is a place for it, but I think it should be relevant to life. Who cares how far I can jump with my feet together? When am I ever going to have to jump with me feet together? I hear a lot of schools are changing their PE classes to things like cycling, and yoga. That is more realistic and fair to those of us who aren't into playing basket ball elimination or volley ball every freaking PE class! You have my sympathies.

Let's face it - your level of physical activity is the EXCEPTION rather than the rule when it comes to the amount of exercise the average teenager engages in.

(Look at the statistics which show childhood obesity up 300+ % from where it was in 1980)

P.E. is supposed to give kids a chance at engaging in a "team sport" ... getting some exercise... and doing some social interactions with their other classmates. Sports are shown to encourage teamwork, leadership, and general good health.

As far as showers or deoderant goes - you should speak to your school's principal about this. I'm sure they'd be willing to listen to a good suggestion in this regard.

Well, if you are engaging in physical activity and doing it in the heat, you should be given the opportunity to take a shower. And you cannot bring deodorant? That seems crazy to me. Keep one in your hall locker and at least you can put it on in the bathroom or something. Why don't you talk to your counselor or make an appointment with the vp and see if you can't get something changed.

Wear deodorant before you goto school and you should not have much of a problem with odor. PE teachers have to learn a lot in order to teach it. They have to take Health classes, biology, and a whole lot of other stuff in college just to even apply to be a PE teacher. Its good for your health to exercise while your young and throughout life period. I bet the reason they have you remove your piercing is for safety; they don't want you getting hurt because of it.

I think it's wrong that you can't shower or bring deodorant.. but you're lucky you even get to have an eyebrow peircing in school. Here, you can't have peircings. If it's such a bother to put it back in then just forget about it.
It's not an easy job for idiots to teach. The people who teach your pe classes worked really hard to be able to do so and it also DOES help some people lose weight stay healthy and all that jazz.
So no.. I think you're just being a baby about it

No, you will not look stupid. I think it's a great idea! It's showing that you want to be modest (A feature that most of the girls in our world today sadly, lack) which is great. Who cares what other people wear? Don't let peer pressure convince you to do something that you feel uncomfortable with! Hope I helped!
