The 1 in luke is different than the 1 in matthew.

I've heard that possibly one was Mary's, the other was Joseph's but I just read that most scholars dismiss this theory and it only became popular in the 1500s.

What's another explanation?

As Moses didn't come within 200 years of Israel and the Old Testament and Monotheism was started to justify the slaughter of the local tribes in Palestine by the Hillside tribes and this slaughter has continued for over 2500yrs and in my life the murder of children has been called 'unfortunate' but necesary to the defense of Israel. And out of this OT nonsense come the Christians, later the Muslims. While we Atheists, the majority, have to stand by and watch them squander our taxes. Shouldn't we all be able to say, without fear, god may have any form or none, but i will not pay for the viral infected lunatic fringe of jew, christians and muslim god jesus jehovah alla believing criminals when we offer nothing to the ethical?

In several instances in the Bible, Paul tells us to "Greet one another with a Holy Kiss". A Holy Kiss is a friendly kiss on the cheek without any sexual tention. Very few people do this, it won't send you to hell if you don't do it but we are all identified with Christ, thus when we see our fellow brotheren (Whom we know) we should greet them with a "Praise the Lord" & a "Holy Kiss". I don't believe that christians should greet fellow christians with "wuz up", Im not judging nor am i saying that "wuz up" is evil but since we are identified with Christ, we represent him so when i see you i will say "Praise the Lord" also we shouldn't abbreviate saying "PTL", people around would look at you like you were crazy, lol. So when we say praise the Lord, we are identifying ourselves with Christ. God bless.

Before I say anything else, I am an atheist. I was watching this thing on the news about a girl who got suspended for wearing an abstinence ring. They said that it violated the dress code of the school. I thought to myself, "Just let her wear the God damn ring." I thought this had to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard of. I do think that public schools should remain secular, but that is just going way too far. The part that really made that school look hypocritical though was the fact that they still allowed Muslim women to wear their head scarves.

With all the pressure to beleive in God, and to follow the crowd, and to "FEAR" God, I'm sorry, but I've started to hate Christians. You all seriously need to stop forcing your beliefs on people, and let them make their own choices! Religion is a dang buisness. That's all there is to it. He could have made the tides move on their own, so what is the symbolism of having a Moon? Light in a dark place? Even when it is dark, there is still a reflection of the Son?

A few times in school (college), I'd write funny stuff on the blackboards in our Spanish classes, & the professors would come in & make more jokes about it & correct my sentences. I was trying to practice my Spanish here. So I tried it in one class, & this man (another student) yelled at me, cursed me out, & threatened me because he was afraid I was going to get the whole class in trouble & cause the professor to get upset & make him not graduate. He was unnecessarily paranoid. The professor wasn't even worried about what I did. I didn't write anything bad.

***& when I told my counselor about it, she told me that I should never ever again in my life write on blackboards because of his reaction. He overreacted, & why should I do what he says if he was graduating? I'll never see him again. Now what if I were to become a teacher/professor? I can't write on blackboards anymore because of what HE & my counselor say?

for those who do believe that we can lose our salvation, please give me scripture to back this up, and also if we can lose our salvation- then it is not Jesus only, is it? Granted salvation does not give us license to sin, that would be cheap grace, and it is not cheap- it cost our Jesus His life. However if we could lose our salvation every time we might sin, and then not repent before we die- this would mean to me, Jesus died for nothing.
