your answers are unsatisfactory, Why don't you be honest with yourself and admit that God created everything around you in its perfect order for humans to live. Please read Quran. Thank you.

The takeaway here is that hardcore evolutionists depend on faith just as much as creationists. Both theories cannot be proven to everyone's satisfaction. Both theories are speculative.

To evolutionists I'd say this -- If self-replicating nuts and bolts and steel I-beams and cable were left to their own devices for a couple billion years would they put themselves together into a Golden Gate bridge?

1) I don't really care. It's not something I dwell on. 2) I think it's an interesting theory, but not something I have studied in depth. Because, again, I have little interest in the subject. 3) I don't understand why intelligence is in parenthesis next to DNA. The question doesn't make much sense. - "Retard" is an ableist slur. I'm sure someone pertaining to have even a shred of intelligence would know that using such a word is the sign of an uncreative mind, and lacking in sensitivity. Using this word as an insult only reinforces the stigma that people who are mentally challenged are "beneath" everyone else, and that being called mentally challenged is a "bad thing". That kind of thinking needs to end.

Atheists don't define themselves by having answers to this question, so why ask them specifically..?

Mainstream science is the body of knowledge that addresses such questions, however there are no conclusive answers to this question currently.

Mainstream science makes NO CLAIMS about where life originated, indeed it makes no claims about anything, as it only describes the natural world. However what it does describe is VERIFIABLE..

Offering a "god of the gaps" argument where the scientific knowledge is as yet undiscovered is the argument of an infantile intellect and wilful scientific illiteracy, however these gaps are shrinking daily as science marches ever forward, leaving behind your stagnant bronze age religious dogmas where they belong, in ancient history..

James B, you're an idiot. Three things..:
1. what do you think would happen to iron in 1000 yrs, never mind "a couple of billion"..?
2. So do you accept that the age of the earth is in the Billions of years..?
3. You argument is scientifically illiterate, ill informed, infantile and dishonest.

Within three to ten years, scientists will create a life-form from scratch. Fact.
In the meantime, just accept that the bulk of us just don't know for sure but what we DO know for sure is that this question from religious folk keeps coming up as if it is THE defense of their silly and childish beklief system.
Live in a fantasy world if you wish. Just stop being infantile. Ask yourself some profound questions that really test your delusion - there are very many.
I know - you choose not to. You choose to just follow the flock. No questions asked.
If you really want to know, there is ample research on this subject available on the internet that don't mention an imaginary god. Don't be lazy.

I believe that life came into existence in the same manner you believe your deity came into existence... through a means that I do not comprehend.

The only difference is that I am comfortable with not knowing, whereas you apparently need to believe some nonsensical story in order to appease your fears.

If it is acceptable to believe your deity "just is", then it is equally acceptable to believe that life "just is".

I believe if you read Discover or one of the other science magazines that you will find we are getting closer to creating life in the laboratory. Once we do it, then evolution takes it from there.

i don't know all the details. i could explain some things but i doubt that you actually care about honest attempts to answer the question, you probably just want to pretend that invoking god explains it. i don't think that it does. i prefer to say that i don't know.

We should have a factual answer within 20 years. Until then, there are lots of silly religions to choose from.
