All the theists I've talked to seem to think that the universe was created especially for them and that the creator of said universe takes a special interest in their life.

That's rather arrogant don't you think?

The humble approach to life seems to involve recognising that we are all just star stuff, not any more or less important than anything else in the universe.

A very horrible person! He's very negative, he's ammused in the expense of others. He's very racist! He hates me, because I'm not anything like him. Yesterday, he was talking about how we should hate god, becuase he's making so many hurricane, which might be the stupidest thing I ever heard. He's always yelling, is a very angry person, and can get aggresive. I don't talk to him at all, but he can't seem to stop talking about me, mostly negative thing to, actually only negative things. He refuses to get me baptise, he's very controlling with my mom, and threathens her all the time.

What can I do about this?

It was September 11, 1857. A wagon train of 160 settlers on their way to California was massacred by a bunch of Mormons dressed in Indian clothes. 17 children under the age of 8 were spared and lived to tell their story.
1st. They dressed as Indians but after five days they changed tactics.
2nd. Then they went a bit away ,dressed back into normal clothes and acted like the Rescue Party who had negotiated a deal with the"Indians".
3rd, Then confiscated all the guns as part of the deal for "saving" the travellers and Mormon dissidents( who were the reason for the attack in the first place).
4th. Took everybody off a mile or so and shot them all. 2 men got away but were eventually tracked down and killed a day or so later.
5th. Took the 17 children they had not killed back with them to Salt Lake City.
6th. Got away with it. After a publicized trial, with the childrens own testimony admitted into the court, only 1 man was convicted and shot, John D. Lee. ( pardoned by Church 1960)

I was told in sunday school that the eye of a needle was a gate in Jursalem that was so narrow that the camel had to take all of his bags off and crawl through on his knees. Thus indicating that a rich man would have to get down on his knees and enter heaven and couldn't take anything with him. My question is, has anyone els ever heard this before? I've been Christian for years and this is news to me. I think I was at the Community Of Christ when I heard this. There are some articles online about it but so far no picture of the gate. http://www.biblicalhebrew.com/nt/camelneedle.htm

When I post a question, it's because I need an answer. When I give an answer, it's because I think I know.
Some people have very quick fingers and rate aswerers without even reading the question.
I don't care about points or stars, but when I ask a question, I'd like to see that the highest-rated answers are also the correct ones. Giving an answerer a low rating based on facts is jusifiable; giving a low rating based on subjective observations corrupts the rating system and makes it difficult for serious askers to find the answers they seek.

So please, ladies and gentleman, don't rate based on spelling or grammatical errors, rate on contect and intent.

Thanks for your time.

I have heard the antichrist is coming and all that but in reality do you think the devil and maybe even demons walk among us, and if they do can we tell? Also if they do walk among us and we can tell they are here will they do anything to us?

So, the fact of the matter is that we all have to share this planet, like it or not. The LGBT people have to share it with the trolls, the democratics with the republicans, the Christians with the atheists etc. How other people live their lives is, in all honesty, none of our business. Whether you agree with it or not, so long as they are not hurting you, why should you get involved? Peace is something we all strive for, love is something we all hope we find and understanding is something which can bring these two things about. So instead of criticising someone else for something they have done, take a look at your own behaviour, and ask yourself this. Am I really in a position to judge this person, when things I have done may be just as bad, or worse?

If your God says that people who haven't heard about Him are off the hook, then in the knowledge that some if not most would reject the news were you to tell them, why tell them?

Please think about this.

According to your beliefs, by proseletyzing you are putting innocent people in to a position where they are in danger of going to Hell.

If Christians never told another person about their beliefs, within a few generations, nobody would know about them, and no one would be accountable, so everyone would go to heaven!!!

So shut up and save souls!

I read a question someone asked about what eye witness written proof is out there that christ exhisted and was who he claimed to be.After researching this a bit I cam across something called The Passion Narrative which was estimated to have been written around 30-60 a.d.
I skimmed through it and it is not an eyewitness account but a passed down account of the crucifiction.30-60 years after the fact Stories get twisted and exagerated in less time than that.
So my question is why do some christians still claim that scrolls and documents written during Christs life that mention him still exhist out there? Post links to them if you have them.

I think it is fun to poke fun at a bunch of brainwashed, hypocritical morons. The only thing you have to back up you faith is a book that was written by man, not the god you worship. You are the first to judge others although your 'good book' says not to judge others. It's okay for you to sin as long as you're in church on Sunday. Now that you've heard what I have to say please leave $100 in the collection plate and be gone. I have a prayer for the christian way of thinking: 'forgive me father for I have sinned, but turn your back and I'll do it again'.....guess that sums it all up.

I'm getting my first car next week...and my friends have already started requesting that I pick them up from work, and other places. I have no problems with this, because that's what friends are for. However, one friend is starting a new job, and is going to be working over an hour away from where we all live. She has to be at work at 9, and will get off at 5. She's already suggested that I take her and pick her up from work, because otherwise, she'll have to rely on the public transportation...which are buses. We live in Houston, and the buses are slow....and the schedule is unreliable. I'd hate for her to have to be late to work and stuff because of this, so i've already agreed. My question is, would it be appropriate to ask for gas money? It's an hours drive,&I don't know if i'll be able to afford to pay for gas to do this regularly, but I also don't want my friend to think i'm being a b*tch for asking..I know friends do these things for one another.
