Jewish schools often tend to be quite excellent. There's no harm in sending a child to a Jewish school. As for meeting up with minorities (as if the Jews themselves weren't a statistical minority in most countries), they'll have plenty of time to do that in their secular dealings. I attended a private religious school (non-Jewish), and it wasn't as if I were shielded from other individuals 24 hours a day. I met quite a diverse range of people while growing up.

Honestly, it doesn't matter what you or I or anyone else thinks about the parenting done by other people (short of abuse or neglect). Parenting is a constitutionally protected right and as such, nobody can interfere with parenting decisions (again, short of the above). And if that were not so, our country would be nuttier than it is now, with different schools of thought and different world views pointing fingers at eachother saying that somebody's kids are sheltered or over exposed to the culture or too shy or too outgoing and on and on and on.

You do realize that we have had Christian and Catholic schools in this country for as long as we've been a country, right? How is a Jewish school any different?
I think exposure to other cultures, religions, races, languages, and so on are always good for children. However, if the educational needs of children are not being met, I also support the right of their parents to educate them as the parents see fit. I don't think homeschooling is a particularly good idea, for example. I don't think it's fair to the children. It promotes isolation, narrow worldviews, and intolerance. However, I will defend the right of every parent to educate their children in whatever manner seems best to them. It is our responsibility to educate our children and to prepare them to be productive members of society.

Where I live, in a black (very poor) neighborhood in the South, in a fairly large city, whites here send their kids to Catholic school, not Jewish schools. Only the very poorest whites here allow their children to go to the public schools here - could it be because the schools and the kids who attend them are so bad that the schools are surrounded by barbed wire and guard towers??? Ya think?!
A group of kids here, five of them, all around 14 years old, recently murdered a kid who had just moved here. The kid was just walking home from school, didn't know anyone really, wasn't in a gang or anything. These kids just hopped out of the car they were in (16 year old driving) and began beating him, kicking him, and throwing his head into the sidewalk until he was near death. He managed to crawl to a nearby house, where he identified one of the killers, then he died.
A trial was held, but the only one who witnessed it, a girl who had been with them, refused to testify. The charges were dropped, and these animals are out walking the streets today, still attending school.
There is really not much point in attending a school that is mostly minority. If black, then there is ENORMOUS peer pressure to "not act white" and that includes getting good grades or having ANY goals in life whatsoever, other than going to jail (they get respect from each other for this, and I am not lying, it's a badge of respect), drug dealing, pimping, and prostituting.
Any black kids in schools like that who try to do well and get good grades are cut off, made to be the outsiders, BEAT UP, and told they are "acting white", by trying to be successful.
Every single minority school in this city (over 2 million people) has failed the Government standards, and funding is seriously in doubt. Again. Every single year.
Kids in KINDERGARTEN are caught all the time with guns in their little backpacks. It's on the news all the time here.
Now you tell me. Who in their right mind would want to send their kids to schools like that, no matter WHAT color they are?? Nobody I know.
THAT is why anyone who can afford it, sends their kids to the Catholic schools around here. We do have a Jewish school here, but it is small and only takes a certain number of kids per year, and those slots are for people who are Jewish, first - it IS a Jewish school, hello!
Most towns and cities have like one or two Jewish schools, and are FAR outnumbered by Catholic, Lutheran, and other Christian schools, so I really don't see why you are using Jewish schools as your example.
Most kids who go to Jewish schools do so because first of all, they are Jewish, and second of all, because it's their CULTURE - would you have anything against a Native American going to a Native American school, for instance? Or a Muslim going to a Muslim school, or a Catholic going to a Catholic school?
Especially considering what's in the public schools, in many cases. No thanks. I'll send my kids elsewhere. That is usually the main consideration of parents who send their kids to any private school.

Yes I think with less exposure people fall back on stereotypes. But I also believe people have the right to have their children educated the way they want them to be.

Actually, my Native American son will be going to a local Jewish Pre-school. The teachers are amazing, caring, and nurturing. In pre-school (unlike Christian based ones), they are not introduced to religion yet. Their main focus is on laying the foundation for a solid education.
As for the older children that we go onto the religious part of their education, it differs none in comparison to a Christian based curriculum. This is one of the problems in our country. No one questions a Christian/Catholic school, but we are asking if a Jewish school is good for America? There are even Pagan/Earth Centered based curriculums in this country now. I see it as a step forward to truly having freedom of religion here.

Gah, I think religous schools should be done away with
Schools should teach ALL religons, not as true, but just the basic ideas, being kept away from other cultures and such only breeds racism
