If you see God as a Creator then pantheists are in fact atheists. For eg Buddhists are pantheistic and believe in many deities but not a Creator and Hindus are also very pantheistic but each deity is but a manifestation of Brahman or a universal soul not a Creator. The incarnations are of Vishnu (a protector) and Shiva (a destroyer) so Hindus and Buddhists both worship protector/ teacher versions of God - not the Creator version. Those who worship Brahma or the Creator can be called theists but obviously they are extremely few in number compared to those who worship Shakti or cosmic energy. Now, if theism is the belief in a higher power, then pantheism is not atheism as it does believe in higher powers/ heavens/ deities/ angels etc all of which are based on faith that can be experienced but not proven though reason or logic.

Being a theist (a polytheist to be more specific) I can say that I am just as rational and humble as any atheist you can think of. I certainly would not be so arrogant as to believe that I'm going to make a huge difference by doing anything, and I would never dream of thinking that the earth, the universe, or anything was created especially for me.

Well, theism refers to belief in a God. So I think it's too general to say that it's true for all theists.
When it comes to some theists though, it does seem a little narcissistic. We are God's chosen people. Humans take the form of God and other creatures don't. God is watching and thinking about what I'm doing all the time. God will protect me and so on.

People want to feel important, I know I do. I think that searching for something and exploring is an excellent path. I have a lot to argue about with people who stop looking and decide they are right and I must obey whatever nonsense they came up with. But, I don't think it's arrogant to not read books, other words come to mind , though.

The basic concept that all men are equal, no man better than any other is correct in my humble opinion.
But, get real; do you know what exists in the entire universe; I didn't think so.
Men are real; therefore all men are important.

I think that the expressions of atheism that show nothing but rude contempt for theism and theists would certainly be in the running for the highest form of arrogance.

You know, I have to say, I'm getting really tired of the whining that goes on in these boards. Of course there are intolerant Christians who believe non-believers are going to hell. You KNOW it's true. So why look for them? To give yourself satisfaction? Here's the thing: the vast majority of Christians do NOT believe that. I certainly don't. My religion tells me salvation is through good works. Quoting Bible verses and believing doesn't quite get you off of the hook.
But you know, you're not solving the problem when you sink to their level and make broad generalizations right back and call our beliefs stupid and irrational. What's the point of that? Why not prove to them that Atheists ARE moral. And they don't NEED approval. And neither do they need yours.
Everyone just needs to get over it and learn some respect. I'm sure I'll get a million thumbs down.

Well, this star dust can reflect back onto itself. That, no matter what your religion (or non-religion) is pretty amazing and in my humble opinion, a very important difference.
Now, what can we learn from that self-reflection?
That is where both science and religion can help us.

Yes. They believe that the universe was solely created to support them. It's the same belief usually seen in a 5-year-old.
