to me it seems like there is no 'value added' in this 'answer'. does it ever tell you something about how the world works that you didn't know before? does it ever suggest new questions to ask?

Hold on now! Before you go and get the wrong idea, this isn't another question about why religion is bad or why is it wrong.

Of course, it IS bad, and it IS wrong. But this is so obvious that it no longer needsto be said.

Instead, this is a direct attack on you, the religious people. The argument? That your failure to reject religion indicates you are colossally, irredeemably stupid.

Religion is fundamentally flawed in a staggering variety of ways, to the point that a 3 year old can bring down the entire framework of baloney with an innocent question.

Such questions include:

- Why is there evil?

- Who made god?

-Why should I trust you after that santa claus thing?

But you didn't ASK those questions, did you? Or if you did, you accepted the pathetic rationalizations that were offered without further contemplation.

Perhaps you were afraid to ask, or even think about it. You comforting little worldview matters more to you than the truth.

Shouldn't those be left for the regular culture section? R&S is about R&S not, "Why can't we all get along?" I actually think we get more progress from some of the offensive questions than these other questions.

What do you think?

Do you think the Al Aqsa Mosque should be shown the same respect and care which the Mohammadans accorded the 1200 year old Bamyan Buddhist statues?

LIke, I've noticed over years that when giving change, men will hand you the coins first and put the bills on top; women give you the paper first and put the change on top! It's true 9 times out of ten!!

This question struck me while watching CNN. Try as I might, I can't think of any institution or organization that has been more divisive than religion. Hindus and Muslims, Muslims and Christians, Muslims and Jews, Christians and Hindus, Protestants and Catholics, Shia and Sunni . . . heck even Buddhists are getting in on the action, lately!

Well, at least agnostics aren't fighting atheists . . . there may be hope after all.

As long as people believe in absurdities they will continue to commit atrocities. ~Voltaire

I have heard from numerous Jewish friends that they don't use the term. I guess both religions share a general moral code based on the 10 commandments, but how do the Jews differ from Christians in their 'values'
It seems that Jews value education that includes science far more than conservative Christians. Some Christians believe that everyone who hasn't accepted Jesus as his savior will burn in hell, but I don't think Jews believe that about people with other beliefs, do they? What else?

For eg. if there are 2 people from different churches come up to me and ask similar question and should I take it as a message from God?

I am troubled as I can't really figure if I am called to priesthood or marriage life.

I been longing to be a loving and faithful husband and good father since I am 15 and now I am 34. This is something I hold firmly.

Yet strangely I can't help but wonder I am calling to priesthood which I would certainly oblige if I never hold marriage dearly.

To me, to be a priest is more than a lifelong commitment. It means that unless I can see the person right infront of me with great love and patience, I can't knee and say God I love you. To be a priest means to humble oneself as a servant rather than desiring for high positions.

There is only one who convinced me and that is the Lord himself who often bring poor people to me. Through these people, I am amazed by his love for this people.

I really torn between both and do you know god's plan for your life?

Does he pray to Ares, the Spartan god of war? I pray to Crom, he is strong on his mountain.

What weapon shall I choose? The Atlantean sword, my double handled battle axe, or shall I trap him as I did with Thorgrim, with a helmet/wooden spike to the solar plexus trick?

Does Leonidas also know the riddle of steel?

to go through a dramatic VISION. IT HPPENED BACK IN '98 THIS WAY. I was headed to a week long mission trip in Canada, riding with the dad of a friend that was going on the trip (the dad was just transporting me, and a truck load of supplies for the trip). The dad had to take ME because I could help with the unloading when we got TO the airport, because we were late getting there. The trip was about 30 minutes long from the Church to the airport. About 15 minutes into the ride from the Church, NT A WORD was spoken by the dad, and I begin to think to myself,"WHAT IS THIS GUY THINKING ABOUT SOOO DEEPLY THAT HE ISN'T SAYING A WORD?' Right THEN, it was like some ANGEL or SOMEBODY took me by the back of my pants, and shirt, and I went FLYING out of the truck into HIS THOUGHTS, into where HE was. I was FLYING horizontal, by this car, and I was sent into the front passenger side, where i was made to peer in, and I see HIS SON laying DEAD at the STEERING WHEEL! How would YOU use this experience

I have had a JW lady call on me for the last 3-4 years. I love her to death as she is by nature a lovely person. She is of course now trying to get me to join, although she isn't pushy but I haven't made it easy for her. I believe in God etc & am pretty spiritual however I don't know which "religion" I can share this with. I read more & more negative stuff about the JWs but all that I have met have always been (a little odd & zealous) but certainly not threatening. Anyone out there who can help solve the dilemma?
