Why is it that christians and such say that if you don't believe in god you're not going to go to heaven? I have nothing against religion at all. I'm not religious myself obviously, but I'm sure that if god is such a holy being, then he would respect everyone for their opinion and not send them to hell just cos they don't believe right? Can someone who reads understands religion give me their take on this?

Also, who are jehovas witnesses, and why do they always come knocking on your door trying to preach to you about god? It's not right to try and convince random strangers by coming into their home and forcing your religion on people. If they want to believe, they will believe anyway!

"Biblical archaeology has turned up more evidence about Judaism and Christianity than any other middle-eastern religion."

Read one way, that doesn't make any sense:

Biblical archaeology, more than any other religion, has turned up more evidence about Judaism and Christianity.

But read the other way it simply says that Judaism and Christianity have more evidence for them than any other mideast religion. Seems reasonable but the qualifier "more than any other mideast religion" in my paraphrase implies that there may be more archaeological evidence for another religion (not a middle eastern one).

For me this isn't a grammatical question so I'll ask the following:

Can anyone tell me where I can find a summary of archaeological research on a variety of living world religions?

one of the things that made me turn away from the christian church was the fact that there was so little leway in who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. as i understand it, according to the churches and bible, if mother Theresa had done all her good deads while believing in Allah, she would go to hell, even though she spent her life helping the poor. if some hopless orphan in africa never heard the word of God because he was born in a wartorn country with no missionaries to teach him, why should he go to hell? and if someone spends there life in service to those less fortunate than themselve, always doing what they see as best, but have decided to be athiest, why would a caring and merciful God send the to eternal damnation? any thoughts would be apprechiated.

Can we keep our friends in Minneapolis who have been affected by the bridge that collapsed in our thoughts and prayers tonight? Not just for those involved, but for their families. This has got to be a difficult time for them. No matter what your belief system...can we keep them in our thoughts?

A tribe opens a casino for economic stability, strong opposition files lawsuits. Although, before the casino, the tribe was so poor and invisible depending on gov't funds, and smoke shops. Many of it's people lived in squalor, and no one off the reservation cared about the tribe's existence at all. Now that the tribe has become business-savvy and holds some major cards, it's a big deal all of a sudden. Is it because they are no longer at the mercy of being under the gov'tal thumb?? Or some other reason?

Why do you feel (if you do) like Christians don't listen to you when you try to tell them what you think or believe? Please give rational answers. I'm asking a sincere question, and would only like sincere answers. I try to be respectful to everyone and would like to recieve the same.

What do you think would help Christians try to see from your viewpoint? Do you think it's impossible for a Christian to see what you see?

Think of it in terms of this context. Tomorrow you will be exiled to an island by yourself with only one food being delivered to you. You cannot grow or obtain any food from that island, and only if you honestly believe in that God and are faithful to pray for your food daily, will you be fed. But your God is kind enough to say you can have any food at all, but that will be the only food you have for the rest of your life and he will supply it abundantly.

What will that food be...
Or will you starve???

Oh, and by the way, the rest of the world was destroyed, so you are better off staying where you are.

(Okay, I'm getting really weird, but that's because I've had withdrawal for several days from here...)

Christians were predominantly responsible for the mass murder and genocide of the:
Native Americans during colonization
Africans in the slave trade
Jews in the Holocaust
Innocent Japanese with the Bomb

Also, aren't the KKK Christians? Whose bombs were exploding in Bagdad? Who runs FEMA and the healthcare system (among everything else)? Whose religious sect is constantly in trouble for child molestation and continue with their "traditional" ways, hardly addressing the issue? Whose religious sect continues to deny scientific facts?

Christians. !

It isn't a flattering depiction of the un-Christian-like Christians and it isn't hard to see why they are dying off. They talk of Heaven, yet according to the rules, some of the most evil people that ever lived can qualify, and Gandhi, Bob Marley and Nelson Mandela will not. Their guide is a book that isn't written clearly and demonstrative for an all powerful God who will punish those who don't believe in Him.
Now, DENY!

I use a regular old toothbrush and toothpaste but also use miswak. I find it actually makes my teeth feel better than a reg. old toothbrush/paste.

What about you? Have you at least tried it? I remember I thought it might be a bit odd at first but the results were amazing. :D

Just taking a poll about strippers. What do you think of them? Think that a job defines who you are? Do you think it's an ok profession? Do you think it's ok for mothers to be strippers?

I'm just curious. My boyfriend and I have an ongoing debate about this. I'm not saying strippers are bad people but I think they are making a bad choice by being a stripper. I find it to be a degrading job and think it's unacceptable for a mother to be a stripper. I think it's setting a horrible example for the children and will bring shame to them depending on age. I have way more respect for people working at a job like McDonald's rather than being a stripper any day.

My boyfriend thinks it's fine. He says they make good money so why not do that and spend time with your kids and then go strip at night while they sleep.

What do you think?

what if I said that God said that every one here is too evil and he is going to destory the whole mankind by fire so he is creating Global warming for this reason. He see no one truely following his plan or his way. He has sent people to help and to guide us but they have lost their way. No one is following the bible as it speaks about having sex before marriage, homesexuals and other things that he talks against and hates. As long as there is sin in your life and you donot come clean and follow his teaching completely he has started the destory the earth by fire but man only see it as Global warming. No matter what you do to stop will not happen because it has started and the only way to stop it is to take the path that he told us about long time ago. But people believe that they can stop it they can't unless they turn from all sin of the flesh and hold to a spiritually life. If they stand up spiritually putting away from them all evil and the appearance of evill then they can.

For centuries, the rainbow was considered a symbol of God's promises to man (after the Great Flood).

So, how did the symbol of the rainbow become the symbol of the gay movement?
