Ok at my school many non black people say the n word ending with a. What is the difference between ending with a and er. Also their is only a black teacher and a black student and they never say anything, but I feel offended for them and correct my friends but it still slips out of them once in a while. thanks

It's a black thing, the taboo is that you can call other black people the n word with an a, but never with the er. White people don't call each other crackers, but it would have been more acceptable than someone from another race called them that. Like teh 1960s greasers considered it offensive when someone called them a greaser but not when they called each other that. When you end it with a er, its usually an insult, but with an a, then its more like a greeting or just a euphemism. Like G or homeboy. Or ese/esa. Only black men call each other that; black women may call black men that, but they don't call each other that. It's like a unwritten rule to use racials slurs toward your own race but not others.

I'm not racist either but adding an a to the end of it is jargon and it shows that someone didn't learn proper English. If you were in the South East it would have a ur. It's not even an accent. It's like the word ASKED how in the hell can that not be said correctly? I'm sure you have heard someone say that.

I am multiracial!! And I HATE both of these words!!! While the "er" one is supposed to be worse than the "a" one--They are BOTH WRONG!!!!! It's very hard for us to say "stop say the "n" word" when we teach our children that "IF" you are refering to your friend and you say it with the "a" then it is ok!!! NO it's not and it does NOT matter what color you are!!! Slavery is no longer in existence and this word should have died also!!!!!!!!!! If EVERYONE and EVERY RACE stops saying and teaching this word--then no one will ever be offended by it again!!!!!!!!!

Because they think it's hysterically funny to say it and they take joy in seeing someone else weep over it. To them it's just a word but to others it is a sharp knife. I would give them a slap over the head and tell them to sleep on a dictionary. Too painful?

How about the people who have to live with hearing that word every single day of their lives?

Rat are universally reviled. there have been some familiar mice, Mickey, effective and speedy Gonzalez, yet in general they're pests. the main familiar squirrel, is Rocket J. (Rocky) Squirrel, who with Bullwinkle the Moose, risked existence and liberty appealing in risky counterintelligence artwork against the KGB throughout the chilly conflict. In his advantage, all squirrels are commemorated.

I think it sounds dumb when people who aren`t black use it, its like a Asian man saying what up my cracker, or a Mexican guy saying sup my g ook. Just doesn`t look right you know? Usually the people who use the N word that are not black, are wannabes.

No difference both have the same terrible meaning. I probably wouldn't say anything either, I mean if I'm the only black kid, how could I defend myself with no help?

for centuries, it was a derogatory term used against them, and for that reason non-blacks should not use it.

in the 1980s or thereabouts, some blacks started using the term themselves, reclaiming the word as a sort of badge-of-honor, as if to say, "we survived, despite all the crap they threw at us."

So it really holds an entirely different context when used by outsiders.

It will still take a long time to change people's mindsets. I personally do not agree with it and wish for everyone to be treated as equals.Regards

Personally I believe they're the same. But n*gger is usually seen as the racial slur and n*gga is like your friend or homeboy. But either way I believe people shouldn't be walking around calling each other that.
