You ask, 'Isn't it illegal for a public area to force people to pray.' No, only if a baseball game were a US government event, which of course it is not. In our country, under our system, 'freedom of religion' was its centerpiece--with free speech and a free press--from the very beginning. Not until the corrupt Bush administration, and that for partisan political reasons, to obtain votes, has the federal government itself spit on our Constitution in regard to freedom of all religions, all faiths. Singing 'God Bless America', to this atheist, seems to be merely a patriotic expression and altogether appropriate at baseball games. People who want to pray at games have every right, or anywhere else for that matter, including in public schools. The Constitution says nothing about praying; it only says that government-sponsored prayers, chosen by the government, are a violation of the First Amendment. In Iran, to not be of the Islamic faith is a serious crime, but this is the non-theocratic USA, if we can save it from Christian fundamentalists.

Private organizations are allowed to set whatever rules they wish, it is government based organizations that are not allowed to do such things (i.e. schools, city or county offices, etc.) A baseball game does not force anyone to sing, nor it is intended as a prayer, it is only a traditional song. I have never been to a baseball game where God Bless America was sung, and I have been to many games, but I suppose it could be at some stadiums.

I never heard "God bless America" at a ballgame. They sing the Star Spangled Banner. Baseball teams are a privately owned corporation.

They don't. The y sing the national anthem. If they did sing God Bless America, it is not a prayer, it is a song. And no one forces anyone to sing. You are also confusing "public area" with Congress. As in "CONGRESS shall make no law respecting establishment of religion, NOR PROHIBIT THE FREE PRACTICE THEREOF."
You are obviously a public school system by-product.

What ball parks you have been to? The National Anthem is the song before baseball games. Seventh inning stretch "Take Me Out To the Ballgame" Get a legitimate question if you want to stir a real debate.

how can it be illegal?..do you even understand the constitution?...the constitution gives freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press...and the only place it says anything that even vaguely suggests any type of so called "separation of Church and State" actually says "Congress shall pass no law ESTABLISHING a religion"...I wish people who want to shove this whole separation theory down our throats would read and get it right...I have the RIGHT to PRAY(freedom of religion) I have the RIGHT to talk about God (freedom of speech) so put that in your pipe and smoke it...if you do not like having these rights go ahead and change them until then give us all a break.

No one is forcing anyone to pray, it is however illegal to infringe upon the religious beliefs of other, it is their right to pray if they want to, it is amazing how someone will stand there screaming about their rights while trying to stomp all over the rights of others at the same time.

You don't have to sing and most baseball stadia are not public areas. They are private areas that people pay to be allowed to enter.
