one of the things that made me turn away from the christian church was the fact that there was so little leway in who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. as i understand it, according to the churches and bible, if mother Theresa had done all her good deads while believing in Allah, she would go to hell, even though she spent her life helping the poor. if some hopless orphan in africa never heard the word of God because he was born in a wartorn country with no missionaries to teach him, why should he go to hell? and if someone spends there life in service to those less fortunate than themselve, always doing what they see as best, but have decided to be athiest, why would a caring and merciful God send the to eternal damnation? any thoughts would be apprechiated.

nobody but God is qualified to make that judgment .. but it is apparent that deeds do not purchase a ticket to heaven .. but good deeds are a result of walking the right path ...

Sinners go to hell.

Ever told a lie?
Ever lusted after someone? See Matt. 5:27-28
Ever hated anyone? See 1 John 3:15
Ever blasphemed?

But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Rev. 21:8

The only way to avoid hell is to repent. That means to turn from sin to God. The perfect example is found in Psalm 51.

“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” Mark 1:15

Well, I'm atheist also, but I don't believe many Christian churches actually say that everyone is going to hell (besides some Baptists and Jehovah's Witnesses)

In fact the Catholics are pretty lenient with the whole thing. That is what purgatory was for.

Now, if you heard the truth about Christ and God, but still turned your back on them, you would not be in God's good grace, and your sins could not be forgiven, hence Hell.

If you had never heard of the teachings of Christ, you did not go to Hell. Not even I could blame the Catholics for that kind of nonsense. (I was raised in the Roman-Catholic tradition)

Romans 2:14. check the orphan thing.

however, the selflessness thing is understandable. good deed or not, you still haven't made it. it's like a contract. if person A signs a contract and person B doesn't, who will be entitled to the words of the contract? person A. and with a contract, you can't breech it. if person A backslides, then the contract is ripped. now neither are entitled. if person A signs it again, they regain the promises of the contract.

life isn't fair in our eyes. never has been, never will be. sooner people realize that the better. sorry, I just believe that's the way it is.

Dear Wiccan

its not important to Allah how much good you have done in this life. What IS important is that how much you have obeyed Allah. We can do all sort of nice things, whether it is Theresa, or Christopher Columbus( if he didnt discover America, there wouldnt be any internet and hence your question lol) but if we miss the basic requirement of accepting Islam, following and practice it, all are just nothing.

Let me give you example. Assume you are a 20 yo girl. Mom tells you to pick up your little bro at the day care. Instead, you cleaned the house, fixed the beds, mowed the lawn etc. Mom comes home and little bro is still in the day care. Would your mom not say: Wow you have done wonderful work at home, but why havent you picked up little Johnny yet?

So you , all your good deed is down the drain when you disobeyed the basic order. Same goes for Allah. No matter how good you are or how good you have done in this life but not accepted Islam and followed it, Allah WILL ask you severly, 'Why did you not follow me.'

Allah says in Qur'an somewhere: All the good deed of non believer will remain behind and all matters will be presented to me'

I hope you understand the analogy here

The lost, unsaved and unbelievers will call hell home temporarily, then they will be cast into the lake of fire along with the devil and his angels for eternity. If,U die in your sins U remain in your sins forever. There is no probation period after death. If U hear the Good news(Gospels) and reject them, then U will have a One-way ticket to hell.innocent people, like children or those that die prematurely without having a chance to hear will not. They go directly to Heaven.

God says"even your most righteous acts are as filthy as dirty rags"U cant earn you way into Heaven. You have to be born again, saved by the blood of the lamb Jesus Christ. Now,on the other hand, just because your saved doesn't give U the right to sin willfully.

The only people who go to hell are the people who
do not believe that God sent His only Son, Jesus,
to be born a man and to die for our sins, past, present and future. Jesus took all our sins into hell,
defeated death and rose on the third day.
If you do not believe that the son of God saved
you from your sins, then God the Father will not
have your name written in the book of Life and
you will be damned.
God is a caring and merciful God. He sent you a
Savior so you would not go to hell, but live for eternity with Him in heaven.
Accept and be saved.

By the way, know matter how many good deeds Mother Theresa did, if she knew God`s Word and
didn`t accept Jesus as her savior, she is in hell now. It isn`t how good you are or what you do, there is no one good enough to save themselves from their own sin. If you think you can, then you think you are god. satan wants to be god too.

Well first of all your Wiccan name tell me that your path is not straight. Hell is a word humans use to describe different places that are not pleasant. It can be a burning torturous place of the a darkness of the abyss.
Jesus said " My Father has many mansions. Your spirit is part of God. It contains energy that is eternal. The value of your spirit is determined by the light energy you obtain through free will choice. When you pass over, your energy is weighed or compared to other energy and like attracts like. You will go to a place of like energy. If you are good, you will go to like energy. If you are not so good, so be it.
Wicca may seem cool and may give you a feeling of fellowship with those who seem very adept. It does mix truth with untruth. I can only hope that you can move on to find more than a spell. There is more to learn, but you stay as long as you need to. This is not a put down, only an invitation.

I am a believer in our Lord Jesus and try to follow His ways. As far as who goes to heaven and who doesn't I have no idea. God is the only Judge and there is something about two judgments. I must admit I really do not understand the Book of Revelations. People have tried to explain it to me but I don't understand. I just do my best and try to encourage others to do the same. I know I would never want to live a day without Jesus un my life and trust in Him to help me along my way.
Yours in Christ,
Miss Mona

It does say in the Bible that Jesus is the way the truth and the light and no one comes unto the Father but through Him. Yes, people can do great and wonderful works, but it is not by works we are saved but only through faith in Jesus. There is a place in everyone's heart that is longing to know God and Jesus. Just by asking Jesus to come into that place makes a person born-again. It states in the Bible that creation speaks and teaches about God. I believe that everyone in the world, whether they hear it from missionaries or not, come to know who God is. This is the job of the Holy Spirit. Once they have this revelation they have a choice of chosing to serve God (Jesus) or not. This is what saves them or condemns them. God is wonderful to serve, I know it is hard to understand if you do not know Him. He is very compassionate and merciful. This is something you have to experience yourself, to explain it is sometimes difficult. It is like trying to explain color to a blind person.
