Your question is absurd. I have seen that usually the yank students are the ones that speak the worst english.
When that happens my opinion of yank students gets a little bit lower

Thats a good question. Considering the fact that I am Polish and, I immigrated to the U.S 3 years ago. I met international students at high school and college. First I know English well but I still rather at conversational advanced level than fluent with Polish accent. Most people were ok with that but often it really has had getting on my way to make mutual life long friends. How I view the people who not speak English or Polish or when I hear someone speaking Polish. Well. Generally I am OK with that as long as, there is no situation in which I sit by table with 3 other people who talk neither english nor polish, they laugh and I do not understand what they say. This seems to be rude and tells that they are not interested in me being involved with their conversation. Even when I have in group Polish people, but there are people who don't speak it, then I try to talk to all in English, even to Polish friends. This way everyone is involved in communication.

P.S It does not frustrate when someone cannot pronounce a word correctly whether in English or my language. Besides I do mistakes at both languages and who doesn't? It's obvious!

My roommate in college was from Japan, and I thought it was normal that English was his second language. He was my favorite roommate throughout college.

But, if your suggesting that a person speaks only a language other than English, then this really becomes a problem. First of all, this person would not be able to attend a college in USA, other than for ESL courses. And at the workplace, not being able to speak English can be dangerous, as they would not be able to interpret safety precautions and managerial instructions. Come on, wouldn't you want more than someone pointing in some direction and shaking their head?

Also if someone on the street couldn't speak English, I don't really know how much help I could offer, unless this other person was a really good Charades player.

The Only Exception I make to what I am about to say is sign language and that's because this language is needed for a disability.

With that being said, I don't really care if its just between themselves and its in private, among their private group, or at a place where their learning and studying the language.

The reason I say that is because that's either between them in private or its stimulating brain activity which is promoting intelligence and artistic abilities.

However, if its in public and its Spanish, Korean, Chinese, or whatever else, then that's another story, then I am highly offended!! I am offended by that because I live in America and our language is English.

Granted its not our language officially, but it is still our language. They teach it in our schools and it is the language we use when conducting business transactions in most places.

Oh, and lets not forget, our founding fathers all spoke English, not American English, that Evolved to what it is over many years, but they did speak English. Look at our declaration of Independence and the U. S. constitution .. what language are these documents in? They were in English last time I checked!!!

This question can only be asked by an English native speaker who does not speak any other language. Why don't you try and learn another language just to see where the problems lie. See how long it takes you to not make mistakes in pronounciation or using the wrong word. Try to be less arrogant and more open minded for a change.

No, it doesn't bother me when I hear someone that can't pronounce a word or words correctly. If I know the person, like a friend, I correct them so they learn how to say them the right way.
If I was the one learning a new language I would like someone to help me learn and not for people to get annoyed.

What does it matter if they perform the work properly? It appears your disturbed that you don't understand what they're saying. You can teach them English and they can teach you their language.

Shrugger your a dick because this guy obviously speaks english as a second language ... at least I hope so :X

But it doesn't bother me ... actually, I usually try to pick up some of it. Brazilians always seem to love to try and teach me Portuguese, probably because they think it's funny to hear me say it.

Why would anyone hate some one for speaking another language? That's pretty silly, I think.
