Yes it absolutely helps. I'm not a religious nut, but I've seen the power of prayer SO many times, and know that God is real. I'm a biker, grew up in the projects of Kansas City, been in gangs, and am a 'Nam vet,(combat, 1st Cav), and just as of June 8th beat Cancer with the removal of a lower left lung lobe. I sincerely believe prayer helped me, many people prayed for me, many who I don't even know, sure does humble this old biker. Thank you for praying for people, you are rewarded everyday for doing so, but may not get to know/see/feel it until you're knocking on Heavens gate,( You'll have a front row seat!)

Keieferis,
I'm far from being the most religious person on the planet but I do believe in God and Jesus, and I pray - although the timing is kind of random.
All I can say about the results is - that when my chips were down, and truly bad things were about to happen, some amazingly bizarre things have occurred that were beyond all likelihood. I don't care who else is convinced - my personal experiences have convinced me - and I'm not an easy person to convince. For the record - I had my doubts about God at one point. I prayed anyway - prefacing it with " if you are up there...." type language. Well - the outcome of the first time opened my mind. Several answered prayers later, I was convinced beyond any doubt. I will say this - I don't think he'll stop disease every time, or bad accidents, or other bad things that occur, and I have no idea why this is. He also hasn't helped me win the lottery. I think there are things that we can get help with, and other stuff that for whatever reason, is off limits. Life is clearly still going to be a struggle and suck much of the time.
All I can say is - I've had enough prayers answered to convince me.
- Kevin

If you really care about these people, get a number where they can be reached and call them in a month or two, maybe a year.
Prayer is a tricky thing. One must believe that God has the power to make the change happen. Faith is so important.
As for me, I do believe prayer works. I was involved in a car accident, from which I was inflicted with a traumatic brain injury. The chances for my survival were slim to none. People all over the world received news of my troubles and thus prayed for me. People have said that I am a walking miracle; God protected my life and has so blest me with a life to serve him. So, yes I have seen prayer working and have been the prayer that has worked.

I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, that prayer works. For those who say it doesn't, then it really doesn't - for them. They lack the faith that it will work, so prayers coming from someone who doesn't believe the prayer they are praying, are meaningless and worthless. The point to remember about prayer is that God doesn't NEED our prayers in order to act. Prayer is a form of communication with God. God views prayer as a trust issue with us. He sees when we are praying, that we are trusting Him with whatever it is we are praying about. He already is aware of each situation before we pray. When we pray, we demonstrate to God that we trust Him to handle that situation in the way that is best, according to HIS will (not ours). God DOES answer prayer. He answers it in HIS way however, and in HIS timeframe. Because this doesn't always agree with what we ourselves want the outcome to be, many people think that prayer was wasted. God knows the whole picture though, that we ourselves can't see. Whatever outcome there is to the prayer, is an outcome that God knows is best, for a situation and a future that He alone knows best about and is best-equipped to handle.

If nothing else, prayer offers an opportunity for meditation and reflection both on one's self and the world around you; when used correctly, it can be a very positive thing.
However, if you are just seeking for someone else to solve your problems that's not prayer...that's lazy wishful thinking.

I have never seen prayer that works, but i think the prayer will only work if the people in need believe it will, and only at the same rate that a placebo will work.

I think a prayer is a spell. It focuses will into making something happen. So, yes. I believe it works.

Dont listen to these knuckleheads. See what God Himself says about prayer:
Jam 5:16 Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Does it make you feel better? If it does, it works. I think prayer gives people hope and makes them feel better. In that it is very beneficial.
