A month ago someone asked this question concerning the story of Abraham being ordered by God to offer his [Abraham's] son in sacrifice:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArqnqwUIG3ljK8tcrG.Fl35IzKIX?qid=20070629060052AAJRxQJ

Abraham had the kid on the alter, knife poised for the strike, when God backed out of the demand.

Interestingly, a number of people answered, [paraphrased] "Yeah, I'd hate to do it, but what the hell."

As a person not too impressed by the Judeo-Christian God, this seems a bit extreme to me. I have a lot of respect for faith, almost any faith.

But it seems to me when a person begins hearing voices from God telling him to draw and quarter his kid, it might be time to draw the line and indulge in some self-doubt.

Could this willingness to listen to voices and believe they're God talking, no matter what they demand, be the explanation for a lot of bloody events in Christian history?

Those are the only choices as far as I'm concerned . If you believe there are others , then fine , you can do that . You also can spend 5 points and ask your own question if you choose , because my questions is. . . Who do you want to live with for the rest of eternity. . God. . or . . . Satan ?

Now I am not racist in any way against Jewish people it's just I have known a number of Jewish families who match stereotypes. All Jewish people I know find themselves superior to other people. Although this might seem a very controversial question but do some Jewish families try to match stereotypes? Stereotypes meaning a typically smug person who is very self satisfied with themselves and their family on the outside but what goes on inside their home is completely not spoken of and forgotten . I've got a neighbor whose family is Jewish and all that family is hated because of how they act. For one their daughter is an "honor student" who does extra curricular activities while playing on a softball team. Her parents push her and push her not letting her make the decision to what her future is. Not only does this family constantly bring up how they've got a larger TV and an honor student and car that parks it self but they purposely live their life's like they are better.

Somebody responded to a question of mine with the above. Can anyone answer it? (My own answer would be for the same reason mankind has created 3,000+ other religious 'bibles' and gods: http://www.godchecker.com )

I was raised to be a (borderline fundamentalist) Christian with extreme conservative values, but recently, I wandered away from the mindset that my parents instilled into me and became an atheist. My family is extremely judgmental towards non-believers, and I am afraid that they will reject my choice if I am open with them. What makes the situation more difficult is that I will be attending a Christian private school this coming school year, so I pretty much have to lie to administration if I want them to accept me. I honestly think that most of my family will no longer speak to me if I tell them that I don't believe in God. So.. what do I do?

(Pay close attention to the first sentence...greater emphasis on that sentence.)

"If Christians would really live according to the teachings of Christ, as found in the Bible, all of India would be Christian today. Freedom and slavery are mental states. Almost anything you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it. All business depends upon men fulfilling their responsibilities. There is nothing that wastes the body like worry, and one who has any faith in God should be ashamed to worry about anything whatsoever."

What you guys think?

They are men with men's voices, so why do they choose to speak with that flowery poncy airy fairy type of voice? Why not just use the voice they were born with. Does being gay automatically make you speak that way?

Why what someone does regardless bad or good is frown upon?
I live in a atmosphere of negativity. Thats why I stay to myself al the time. It's seems that people love misery and try they hardest to bring you down. I know the bible say to"love your neighbors" but, I hate mines because they bring out the worst in people. Aint nothing but, addicts and junkies here so, What it is they hating on? The fact that I'm about my business and careless about their fun because everywhere I move to its the same old s*** .

went to a moderately priced restaurant that he suggested, at the front door he said, I don't have a penny on me. I was so upset at myself for not knowing this guy that someone introduced me to, and I was placed in an unusual situation. I had money on me, but should I have walked out or charged a meal and then just slip out to teach him a lesson?

HE asked me out, and he suggested the place, and no money? What would you have done?

Some people complain about "so-and-so" kind of people trying to push their life style on them. So, who has ever come knocking on your door or stopping you in a mall parking lot or even handed out pamplets at Disneyland to you that want you to join their group?

Personally, I have been hit on by Mormons, Protestants and Baptists and a few Hari Krishna at the airport. I have never been solicited by any Jews, Hindus, Muslums, or Homosexuals.

How about you ?
