They are all different God/goddess dedicated to different responsiblities in our Vedas, especialy in Rig-veda.
1.Indra - King of the gods Indra: God of War, Soma (inebriating drink used in ritual).
2.Sun - Savitar or Savitṛ, which means “he who nourishes,” God of Light.
3.Agni: God of Fire.
4. Varun- God of Oceans, Rain, water.
5. Mitra - God of friendship and alliances, usually invoked together with Varuna as an upholder of order, punisher of falsehood, supporter of heaven and earth, and bringer of rain.
6. Marudgan - God of Agricultural Lands under Indra.
7. Brahaspathi - Lord Guru God of teaching.
8. Prithvi - God (Goddess) of Earth - always depicted as feminine..
9. Aditi - means limitless- is the goddess of the sky, consciousness, the past, the future and fertility.-

It is in relation to KUMBA MELA at triveni sangamam every6 years --subsequent to the curse of DURVASA MUNI---all Deas including their king Indra lost power. To restore power devas & demons churn sea . Poison ect comes out.
