In Kaliyuga the main source of prana is only through food and via breathing.
in satyuga, it was taken directly from Sun
Prana is not the air which we breath, as most of the westners name it.
respiration is a by-roduct of prana intake. When we inhale, the prana is directly absorbed by one of the three nadis(Ida, Pingala or sushumna).
This subtle prana is used by our chakras and other nadis mainly for mind activities....as this prana on entering the body divides into 5 types Pran, Apaan, Samaan, Udaan, and vyan....which do their respective work in the body.
Those whose Kundalini awakens fully and they enter higher samadhis, dont need prana from outer sources...as Kundalini provides them with prana...hence yogis who enter into samadhi, dont eat or breath for years together.

For Meher Baba, as described in his book God Speaks, involution follows evolution. It is the journey of the fully-conscious human soul back through the higher planes of consciousness (consciously). According to Meher Baba, there are seven planes of consciousness beyond the gross plane. Planes 1-4 are of the subtle world (pran, or energy). Planes 5-6 are of the mental world (mana, or mind). Plane 7 is of the Real, or beyond the creation.
Pran is the creation of Brahma (God), the supreme being. The inherent quality of Pran is "Motion". This quality of Pran is felt. and experienced in Vayu (Air), which is always in motion. The Human body is composed of five elements 1. Akasha (space of vacuity) 2. Vayu (air) 3. Agni (fire) 4. Jala (water) and 5. Prithvi (earth). From amongst these five elements, Vayu or Air is said to be the essential element, which keeps the body alive and maintains it. This air, when inspired in the body by the process of breathing is called Pran.
Pran enters the body through nostrils. Respiration maintains life and is the basis of Pranyam. According to Yogdarshan. It has been said that when you sit in one of the convenient posture (Asan) and regulate the act of respiration, it is Pranayam. The act of inhaling air in the body so as to reach the lungs, is called inspiration and the act of throwing the air out of the body, is called expiration.
When we inhale, it is not only the air or oxygen that enters our body, but alongwith the air also enters a divine energy which keeps the body alive.
Doing pranayam does not mean only taking the air in the body (inhalation) and throwing it out (exhalation), but alongwith oxygen, we also take in our body the Vital Energy. This Vital Energy permeates the entire universe and what we inhale and exhale is the fragment of it.
As Manu Maharaj- the law giver of the Aryans is of the opinion that pranayam clears the body and mind as the fire cleans dross elements contained in the gold when heated.
Physiology teaches us that the oxygen (Pran) we breathe fills our lungs, spreads in the entire body (internal and external including neurons, veins and arbitraries) providing it with essential food, energy, oxygen and gentle massage. Not only that the veins collect the dross elements form the body, take them to heart and then to the lungs, which throws the useless material like carbon-dioxide and other fatal toxins out of the body through the act of exhalation.
Through pranayam and Meditation we attain a transcendental state of consciousness where the mind has no thoughts or impressions. In that state, our neuro-enodrine system becomes limbic-hypothalamsu, pituitary, adrenal axis becomes strong and precise. As a result our stress hormones- ACTH, cortisol and prolactin and adrenaline and noradrenaline go down. And good hormones like beta endorphines and enkaphalins, etc., go up. As a result stress-related diseases like htn, D.M, obesity and heart disease, etc., start reversing.

In Yogic Science, the Universe is made from PRANSHAKTI ( Electrical Energy). Plug into that and you'll soon make contact with some very accommodating supernatural forces known as demons.

PRANA-
Prana or ki is that life energy which keeps the body alive and healthy. In Greek it is called 'pneuma', in Polynesian 'mana', and in Hebrew 'ruah', which means 'breath of life'. The healer projects prana or life energy or 'the breath of life' to the patient, thereby, healing the patient. It is through this process that this so-called 'miraculous healing' is accomplished.
Basically, there are three major sources of prana: solar prana, air prana and ground prana. Certain areas or places tend to have more prana than others. Some of these highly energized areas tend to become healing centers.-

From Vayu Bhagavan. All lives on the earth including all the Avataars and all gods amd messaiahs and prophes lived because they were breathing .None of them could have suirvived without breathing .the gravity of he earth whichios pulling down everything an keeping them close to its surface is keeping the balnket of ait also over its suface for us to breath. We are in theocean of air like the fishes under the waters of the ocean,We say that we are independent but we ar dependent on the air that eh vegetations produce for us .We ae all connected to one another like the bubls in a serial set of electric bulbs What I breatou is breathed in by another persom too. just as we draw water form the river along with the animals , we draw air from the same ansd one grand reservoir that his engulfing the whole planet .Remove the air blanket from the surface of he earth .,all lives and plants would be gone . The same creates wqater for us and he water dissolves the nutrients of he soil and allows the roots of he plants to absorb them and make our food too.so the the great source of energy - pran energy of the air - The Hindus call it the Vayu bhagavan even some six thousands of years ago.
In fact those who mock at our worship of air etc are unable to think thei god berathed and depended on air for his life .In his first book of Genesis .Moses has said hat god after creating man blew inot his nostrils and man came to lie and breathed .the god who made man after image had breathed intothe nostrils of man.tha tmeasn that the god had a pair of lungs and he was breathing and that is why he could blow into the nostrils of man.so according to Moses whose book forms the beginning of he Bible , the Christin /god as dependent on the aoir for his life .Mow think who was more powrful .- the god who had the image of man or the air who had no image or shape ?
Kraihna showed Arjuna the cosmos itself as the totality of god as it is the cosmos ,with its quality called nature that created everythinG in the universe.

What form does prana take? You mean where do we get it? 4 sources: eating, sleeping, breathing, meditating. How do we percieve its form in the body? In the body it can be perceived as tingling, hair standing on end, inner light, blissful feeling, alertness, deep peace, and knowledge of truth.
