There is just as much "disagreement and uncertainty" about physics among physicists as there is about evolution among biologists. The bible has a lot of examples of physics that contradict our scientific understanding in ways similar to the creation/evolution disagreement. Why then do people argue for equal time for "magic man does it" in biology, but not physics?

btw, what would a semester-long course in intelligent design consist of?

every year for Christmas I do a GLBT themed Christmas tree. This takes a lot of planning, so I'm starting early. Last year, I did the "butch" tree, and put duct tape rolls, little mini tools like wrenches, sockets, tape measures, ect..on the tree as ornaments, toilet paper garland, and a saw blade on top as the "star" of the tree.
One year I painted my tree rainbow striped.
One year I did an "ABBA" tree and cut out the lyrics of their songs and made them into ornaments.
One year I did "The Birdcage" and cut out pics of the actors/actresses and put them as ornaments, along with outrageous costume material and feather boas for garland.
I've done musical themes as well from "Chicago" and "Rent"

I need a new idea!!! Now what?

...you then learn for the first time that in REALITY, He resembles the most horrible-looking BEM (bug-eyed monster) that ever could have been conceived by sci-fi writers. Exponentially more repulsive than the creature in the movie, "Alien." And that while on earth, He simply made himself **appear** to look like everyone else.

(For this scenario, ignore the "made in God's image" passage.)

Other than being shocked, what would your NEXT reaction be? Could you deal with that... for all eternity?

I asked a different question earlier with this same verse included, nobody could directly answer my question, but, I was told that the sword meant "the word of God", of course non-Christians wouldn't have known that. So, my new question is, when people don't know anything about a religion such as Islam, but are aware of tatics, such as cherrypicking verses from the Quran and taking them completely out of context, why do they not explore Islam more instead of stopping at a single verse and assuming Islam is evil?

So out of the books of the bible, there were tons left out...why is this? Was it so that the priests could make the "Christian" faith more tuned to worshiping Jesus or was it because the Gnostic sect not adhere to there way of thinking??? Why were the books left out by Mary, Judas and others??? There are tons of questions i have but lately this one has bothered me... Who's to say that Jesus wasn't just a good public speaker, prying on the weak minded and spreading what would be considered now a day as good manners...I mean sure the 10 commandments are a good start but come on its all just common sense!!!

Thanks for your answers...this may help me a lot...

Is there a religious alternative to these scientific findings and theories? And should that be taught in school? There are plenty of unanswered questions and holes (pardon the pun) in the science of black holes.

That if we think of God as a thing, a being that exists in time and space, it constrains God to OUR own little world world. God is being itself, not A being. What do you think?

Isn't this a better idea of God, than some sky daddy? Or is the idea too hard? And what do you think this statement really means?

Under wandering stars I've grown
By myself but not alone

Can I give him an opposing point of view or a second opinion ?

My whole life, I have that heard that the bible tells us not to judge others. And my whole life, I've seen some of the most judgmental people in those who call themselves believers. I have worked in the restaurant industry for 8 years now and some of the nastiest, rudest most condescending people have been the people who come in for lunch after church. It is so frustrating to me that these people who claim to be born-again or saved are living without the slightest ounce of compassion. My mom and sisters are guilty of this too! They are so self-righteous and judgmental about everything I do. I am 25, by the way. I am compassionate, make good decisions, treat others with respect, yet because I don't go to church with them and read the bible with them everyday and don't pray before I eat, I am a bad person. How can they expect me to even WANT to follow their path if not only they, but so many other so-called believers out there setting such a bad example of what it is to be religious?

I've been able to speak English and communicate with it since I was 8 years old thanks to the many hours I've spent in front of the tv.
When saying something in English to someone who's an Arab, it's common sense to speak in an Arabic accent or else you'd sound like an idiot (at least to the others).

Now although I almost have an American accent I don't really think it's perfect or that much good really although I've learned English by watching TV.
I don't want to have an Arabic accent because I believe a language MUST be spoken as it is. But if I for example alter my accent into an English one, would I appear as an imitator or phony? Just because I don't want to speak Engarabic or semi American.

Also, other than watching British movies and talking to British people, are there any free ways to enhance my accent into a British one?

Thanks.

You'd have to do a list of chores the winner makes, you'd have to obey his / her commands, and do everything he / she says, you'd have to say "Yes, Master" or "Yes, Mistress", ( "Yes, Sir" or "Yes, Ma'am" ) and you'd have to follow his / her rules . At the beginning of the day, you'd have to say "I promise to work very hard !" . You wouldn't have to have sex with the winner, but you'd have to do whatever else he or she wanted -- housework or volunteer work, etc .

OK, obviously not. You aren't put to death for working on a Saturday, and if you rape a girl you go to prison, you don't buy her from her father and marry her.

BUT, Maybe it should be? How's this for a proposal - If you break a law and are convicted, either you are punished, or a completely law-abiding citizen who had nothing to do with the crime is selected at random and executed.

Works for me. What do you think?

I know you guys have gobs of fun aaand drinks ripping the Bible. However you should be aware that when it mentions “The Four Corners Of The Earth”, it is a METAPHOR. Since this little oversight is just information and not about sin or proof of God you should not object to this reference.
In the book of Job26:7-9…
He spreads out the northern skies over empty space.
HE HANGS THE EARTH OVER NOTHING.
He wraps up water in his clouds.
They are heavy, but they don't burst.
He covers the face of the full moon.
He spreads his clouds over it.
(New International Reader's Version)
Would you kindly pass this around amongst yourselves so we can at least be on the same page?
