...you then learn for the first time that in REALITY, He resembles the most horrible-looking BEM (bug-eyed monster) that ever could have been conceived by sci-fi writers. Exponentially more repulsive than the creature in the movie, "Alien." And that while on earth, He simply made himself **appear** to look like everyone else.
(For this scenario, ignore the "made in God's image" passage.)
Other than being shocked, what would your NEXT reaction be? Could you deal with that... for all eternity?

Also, may I suggest you learn more about the great qualities of being social liberal before continuing with that foolish nick? They vastly outnumber neocons (thankfully!) and are the fair-minded, sensible, and intelligent DEFENDERS of civil/human rights and personal liberties.

Or suppose he looks just like that loser you used to make fun of in high school?
Or that old troll you saw lurking around the bar last week?
Or your least favorite, obnoxious person in the world?
Yes, we are hung up on looks. To us, humanoid is the norm and everything else is in varying degrees -- creepy.
Maybe our inability to love a BEM (or even a troll lurking around a bar) is a measure of our inability to really enter heaven.

If after dying, I find myself living again somehow, I will expect to see some kind of alien beings or technology, because only a technology far in advance of our own could revive or recreate someone with memories intact.

Give God more credit than looking like a blue eyed monster. I think it will amaze people to realize God will look nothing that will make us afraid...

Surely you jest.
Sounds like a great script for "The Twilight Zone".

Stop wasting your brain.
I cannot ignore the "made in God's image" scenario. I am, so Jesus cannot look anything like your scenario.
Besides, we are spirit. What you see is a mere covering.

Maybe you've confused heaven and hell? And than there's the biblical account of the beast that was and is not and yet is. And they will worship the beast etc. Whatever. What good is to live forever in servitude?

I'd fling my hands into the air and run, screaming (with flailing arms!), in the opposite direction.

I would say, "Jesus, transform yourself to that caucasian man I'm used to seeing in the Sunday School curriculum."
