I am not a racist by any means, but how does giving blacks thier own History Month or Television Network make them feel equal? All this does is to prove to them that they're different? Doesn't it kind of defeat the purpose?

I'm not asking for any religious bias here. I'm only looking for facts made in history. Which out of these 5 religions came first and please provide a year? It doesn't have to be right on the dot year but something like 700 AD or 5000BC whichever is right.

Judaism, Norse, Christianity, Hinduism, & Islam.

I know many of you will only respond with "But that's NOT how it is so I can't do it." Very well. If you can't do the thought experiment, just ignore the question!

But for those of you that can and who believe in a literal hell. A place of punishment in the next life. Please imagine with me that instead of setting up a hell, god lets everyone go to heaven. Those who have sinned in this life have the opportunity to learn from their mistakes. Once the lessons have been learned and the mental illnesses cured, they are allowed in the presence of god.

Do you have a problem with things being set up this way? Do you feel uncomfortable if they're not punished forever or do you feel in some way that things are "unfair"? Does this view of an afterlife change your opinion about heaven or god or morality?

Thanks!

I'm 30 years old and I grew up in New York City. I moved to Massachusetts when I was 18 but I don't have a New York accent or a Boston/New England accent. I speak General American English or Broadcaster English as some call it. Am I a freak of nature?

I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. (Mark 13:30-31)

He also said to them, "Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see that the kingdom of God has come in power." (Mark 9:1)

"Truly I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God." (Luke 9:27)

I have always wondered where superstitions come from and what they entail. The most nototrious and common one is that the number 13 is unlucky and that friday the 13th is the most unlucky day. Can anyone elaborate on this and explain where this particular superstition originates?

Because when the first Hindu prayer opened the Senate yesterday, three "Christian patriots" decided to yell, interrupt, and disrupt it.

""Lord Jesus, forgive us father for allowing a prayer which is an abomination in your sight."

And of course, a conservative Christian group tried to prevent it beforehand.

I'm glad Rajan Zed was allowed to proceed, but angry that it had to be made so difficult for him!

I posted earlier this moring and received wonderful answers to my question. I am interested now, in your take please.
I see a lot questions asking about "true" Christians -posed from atheistic thinkers, the agnostic fellowship and those of other faiths.
I like that and understand why so many of the best answers are those that support one's intial theory. What I don't understand though is this:
If you know what a "true" Christian "should" look like or what a "true" Christian is "not", doesn't that say that you know a lot about what a "true" Christian should be, who Christ was, what He taught and His example to us? If this is the case, what is it about Him and His teachings that you reject? If your answer is based on disbelief of His existence or deity what is the reason for this line of questioning? Is it simply to encite division, point fingers or display your scriptural knowledge?

Like "Christians" that attempt to use Christ as a battering ram?
