I reject the central tenet of your religion -- that faith in the sacrifice of Jesus guarantees eternal life in heaven -- because there isn't a shred of evidence to support that thypothesis.
In order to prove me wrong, and in so doing win another convert to your church, simply produce someone who is currently enjoying eternal life in heaven, and let me interview him so I can confirm that it was belief in Jesus that put him there...

Very interesting question.
I think a lot of their views is the media negativity of Christians. Too many years the TV shows with leaders of congregations or people in them were corrupt or a mockery of Christ. Thus people get their understanding from the media, rather than go to a Christian Church & hear a real preacher themself.
Then also, in the Churches you have the false doctrines, the slanders, etc that grow in the true Churches, and then some choose to look at that & think that is what Christianity is all about.
People are looking at other people, then only at the few real examples of people who molest children in the Church & point at Christianity as molesters. The reality of the devil who does go to church or the Jezebel who tries to gain control of the Church. And those are the tares in the Churches. The false doctrines, the slanders, the false accusations, & then the hypocrites that sexually abuse others in the Church or steal money from the Lord. Hypocrites are those who are in the Church for alterior motives & they aren't true Christians. They haven't been born of God yet. They may be just at the door, but look at others & what others think rather than look up & confess & believe & turn to Christ.
True Christians don't use Christ as a battering ram, mostly. That is hitting. Unless they are baby Christians, not mature in Christ yet. It is true that when Jesus saved me from a breakdown, I wanted to tell my testimony to others & it seemed that either they tore me/ wounded me or told me I was stupid or worthless, that I had nothing to say. As a result was anxiety attack on talks about the Holy Spirit or my testimonies. So? In 2006 the Lord showed me the root of anxiety attack. Old wounds. So, as an imature Christian I gave what is Holy to the dogs & cast my pearls before swine, because I didn't know better. They probably thought of me as a battering ram.
sophia..., There is a recent scientific study out there where scientists were able to produce matter out of light. There is a book about it one can purchase through http://www.elijahlist.com . I haven't read it though.

I am not particularly religious. I prefer to put my faith in myself, rather than a diety. I have, however, read the bible and I am familiar with the teachings of Jesus.
I think the Bible is a beautiful story, and it holds many great moral lessons.
However, I do not like the way that the Bible portrays women, and I feel as though it tells us to deny our every human instinct. I don't believe that there really is an angry man in the clouds watching my every move, or a firey pit that I will be condemned to if I sin.
If I had to choose Eve, or Lillith....I'd choose Lillith
I feel as though those Christians who take the Bible so literally that they practice cruelty and intolerance toward their fellow man, such as bashing homosexuals, and standing outside of abortion clinics telling young pregnant women (some who are rape victims) that they are going to burn for all eternity, those people take their faith too far.
When religion makes you want to judge and condemn those that don't share your beliefs, it is taken too far.

I am a Buddhist and an ex Catholic.
I do not reject and never have rejected the Teachings of the Christ. I reject outright and have never believed the interpretations of the Church nor the Infallibility of the Pope. The term I use is never believed...as opposed to never believed in.
I studied Scripture and found wisdom, I studied the Church and found stupidity, ignorance and hate. I prefer the Scriptures, but the Churches interpretations did not aid in the development of wisdom and Love, they interpreted them to mean selfishness to reach Heaven by rejecting Compassion for others including other Faiths, blindness of Faith to reach a selfish goal to me a rejection of Compassion for others in search of selfishness rather than a search for wisdom by encouraging an opening of the Mind to encourage Compassion and to develop selflessness.
I am Buddhist because I am Ex Catholic not in spite of it. I do not reject the Christ nor His teachings on selflessness, I reject the selfishness exhibited by the teachings of the Church and those that espouse selfishness as a means to reach Heaven.
A Buddhist....

I reject the fact that he is the son of G-d, that he is G-d, or is in any way connected to the Messiah. He was a Jewish Rabbi, period. I also reject the Christians that won't let me believe my own faith without telling me I am wrong. I thought that was what faith was all about.

I reject his status as Messiah. He was a prophet, nothing more. When the messiah comes, there will be no question as to his status (this is written in the Torah, what you would call the Old Testament) . Even in his own time Jesus' status was not universally accepted, therefore, he was not the Messiah.

I reject the idea that there is only one very angry male God, and I reject the idea that I need a long list of rules, rules, and more rules in order to interact with my Creator(s).

I reject the idea that he was anything more than a man. Why? Because there's no empirical evidence to indicate otherwise.
