Because when the first Hindu prayer opened the Senate yesterday, three "Christian patriots" decided to yell, interrupt, and disrupt it.
""Lord Jesus, forgive us father for allowing a prayer which is an abomination in your sight."

And of course, a conservative Christian group tried to prevent it beforehand.
I'm glad Rajan Zed was allowed to proceed, but angry that it had to be made so difficult for him!
What do y'all think of this?

Come on people, seriously!
Barry Lynn's comment is right on - people claim they want more religion in the public sphere and more freedoms for religion, but clearly they mean Christianity, not just any religion.

I think that there's no place for ANY prayer at ANY government function. This is a diverse nation of many different beliefs (and non-belief). To have an invocation of some sort from a particular belief is disrespecting all other beliefs. Pray at home or at church.
It's about time we stopped tolerating our elected officials diminishing our great nation by treating it like a third-world theocracy. It's a disgrace.

If you were to look up in First Assholeians, chapter 3 verse 9-35 you will find where they are commanded to be that away.

I think it's a shining example of what's wrong with many christians today. Entitlement issues, intolerance of others, and pretty much going against the whole love/peace/compassion thing Jesus stood up for.

wow they shouted down a hindu prayer with their own prayer. they were arrested. and how many senators where there? 2...big freakin' deal.
i couldn't care less. next they should have a satanic incarnation and black mass ceremony to open the senate. worthless mouthpieces of no consequence other than to further the new world odor agenda.

If they don't want to go along with it, that's fine, but it's just stupid to try to insult it like that.
It reminds me of those people that would around to either convert or kill everyone they found. I fail to see how that could possibly be patriotic.

There are bad ones in every group, and it always disappoints me. These people have unacceptably disgraced Christianity with their immature intolerance.

I believe it was in the Macho Jerk version of the Bible. Though shalt be a jerk in my name's sake, unquote. Sorry I couldn't think of any answers.

I think it's ironic that prejudice and hate can come from following people who preached messages of peace and love
