There is nothing wrong with dancing as long as it's not sexually suggestive. It's an expression of joy and celebration. Our health code or "Word of Wisdom" forbids tea, coffee, tobacco, alcohol or any addictive substances. As far as food goes, we are advised to eat healthy. Eat fruits, veggies, grains, and go light on the meat if you can. Go to www.mormon.org for more info.

Personally, I think you were using the wrong terminology as the the MOTAB Christmas concert was a cultural event, not a worship service. Maybe as the article that you cited stated, you could have told your overly spikey V.T. , "I enjoyed the "regal" dance portion of the MOTAB's Christmas show....". But to answer your question, as far as I can tell Mormons don't believe in liturgical dance, considering it's never been done during an actual worship service before.

Mormons dance to meet each other (this was in the 80's). There were chaperones and there was no bear hugging allowed and there had to be at least two inches between you and the guy when you slow danced. No sitting on guys laps. Mormons start dating at 16. They do not dance in worship, they sit down and sing hymns.

Mormons have no problem dancing, at least not that I've heard of. Benji, the winner of So You Think You Can Dance last season is Mormon and his whole family are dancers. As far as consumption of food or drinks, nothing with caffeine, alcohol or anything that alters your mind or mood.

"Duchess" would be the correct spelling of the female word for "Duke", just in case you were wondering.
But Mormons like Dancing, as long as there is at least a Book of Mormon's space between the boy and the girl.
They can't drink coffee, tea, alcohol, or in most cases caffeine. They also can't smoke and believe meat should only be eaten in winter.

Most LDS already answered alot.
But here is what sums up what we strive for, escpecially hte last sentence.
13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

they dont discourage dancing. actually, they encourage it, because it's a great way to meet new people, but they discourage getting too close and discourage dancing that suggests immoral behaviors and stuff.
their "health code", known as the Word of Wisdom, says not to use tobacco, alcohol, or strong drinks. it says that grains are for the use of man, and meat is to be eaten sparingly. and different prophets and apostles have spoken against drugs and stuff. and some dont drink caffeine, including me.
oh yeah, i am LDS, so idk why i kept saying they. i started like that, and decided to keep it.

They actually encourage dancing. When I was growing up, we had dances at least every other month for high school aged kids. They don't like suggestive or violent dancing. (No freaking or moshing)
For the health code looke here
