Jehovah's Witnesses refuse to take up arms and kill other humans, which is why German Jehovah's Witnesses were put in concentration camps because they refused to salute Hitler and fight in his army.

Obviously, the Catholics, Protestants, Baptists, Atheists, Muslims etc. all did allow themselves to be used and did kill others in wars.

Are there any other religions that actually follow Bible teachings and refuse to serve in the military?

it certainly has for me; I mean I really can't believe it - I no longer say things that could qualify as racist, sexist, discriminatory, illegal, abusive, whatever - not even with my closest acquaintances. Such remarkable control is unbelievable.

Yahoo answers did play its part though. I even afraid of making jokes as mostly, they revolve around some stereotypes.

But at the end of the day, there is satisfaction that at least I am not offending any individual!

Cheers on that note.

Why is it that some people regard the Bible as being just superstitious nonsense.

It has been a work of inspiration for many people over the past 2,000 years so surely it has been proved to be accurate and relevant just by its sheer longevity of influence?

This happens on both sides, believers and non-believers. Is it really so difficult to ask or answer a question, regardless of your belief system, with respect instead of feeling the need to ridicule and mock? Does it really make you feel better or superior? Is it impossible for each side to get along and respect the opinions and beliefs of another even if it differs from your own?

I think we do. People who pose vile, incitful questions do so to incite anger & reaction. They disgusie their hate by dressing it loosely as a question. They survive by answering a minimum amount of questions to get the points which allow them to continue postings questions. Reporting them through the 'red flag' system is pointless, they reappear with a different name and the same trash.
I enjoy this forum, I learn from an opposing point of view, I enjoy reading/thinking/answering questions posed on racism/religion Etc it is through dialogue that we find peace, tolerence & growth as a human race. I hasten to add that I am not talking about controversial questions, I am talking about questions posed to incite pure anger E.G. should I wear a veil saying 'no white infidels' which was posted recently along with a vile write up.
From this point on, I will noty dignify these questions with any response. If the fire has no fuel, it will die.

Will you join me ?

don't take this as racist as i'm sure a domestic al sharpton is reading this somewhere, but why? is it a trend? It's just that i've known a lot of japanese/vietnamese people over the past 4 or so years and many of them have the same slight red hair dye, and i watch a japanese television show and 80% of people (men and women) have red tinted hair. was just wondering why this style is the only color the majority dye their hair.. thanks

I can't standing eating with my dad, every time he's done, he has to start sucking his teeth!! It drives me mad!! I just gave up trying to get used to it, so I always eat in a different room. But I'm serious, sometimes I'm in my room and I can hear him doing it all the way in the living room!! I just want to go down there and scream in his face "Ahhh". I wouldn't do that though, lol, I respect him. But jeez, here's an idea, brush your teeth. I just want to know if there's anyone who has to put up with this kind of situation, what do you do?

i always have this believe that there is one GOD who created everything. He send his messenger to earth to help the human thru' many languages. that's why there is muslim, bible, buddhist etc.... because over the years it was passed down from generations to generations. human made mistake or greed made mistake. and that's why many religious come out.

what do you believe?

I ask because, except for the first 18 months of my experience with Paganism I’ve had to be a loan practitioner. I’ve recently gone to some local meetings of COG, which have so far been kind of tedious administrative meetings more than “Worship Services” for lack of a better term.

(I hope that statement is taken with some understanding. Please don’t bust my chops over it.)

Many Pagan books I’ve studied have been flamed by other Pagans, and even some of the popular baseline misconceptions of the faith are sometimes discredited, for example some reject the Rede outright. (I understand that one, because It’s a recent invention to make Wicca more palatable to outsiders.)

I’m not trying to herd cats here, but the lack of structure and reputable teachers is becoming frustrating.

The Holy Quran in Sura Mariam (Chapter 19) Verse #28 says

"O sister of Aaron! Thy father was not a man of evil, nor thy mother a woman unchaste!"

Again same chapter verse# 34 says
"Such (was) Jesus the son of Mary: (it is) a statement of truth, about which they (vainly) dispute. "

I understand there may be different women bearing the name Mary or Mariam at that time but the Sura identifies Jesus's mother. It mentions Jesus as the Prophet. It mentions Aaron as the brother of Mary. My question is
Did Mary (mother of Jesus Christ) really have a brother name Aaron according to History?

My own personal belief is that the solar system universe, galaxy what ever you like to call it is so so so so old that it is just mentally impossible to think back that far, to when anything started

This feeling eases my mind.

You guys give the most rational answers of all the Christians, but I have another question for you.

If God (Jehovah) has no beginning and has always existed, and Jesus was his first creation in heaven before he was sent down to earth to die etc, then what did God do for eternity before he created Jesus and everything else??

Okay, it seems that some people assume the gay community is compiled of ugly men and ugly women, the rejects of society who were unable to get relationships with the opposite sex and have been forced into a life of homosexuality because of their horrible looks.

One example is someone earlier asked a question about Jesse Metcalf and whether he is gay or not. Someone answers "he is not gay, he is sooooo hot". So "hot" people can't be gay?

I know I am lesbian, but I get hit on by more men than women. We aren't gay because we can't get someone of the opposite sex, we aren't attracted.

And when did all the straights become fine??

Please explain to me the following?

1) What are the 10 commandments according to your church?
2) Are you aware that your church changed Gods Sabbath Day to a Sunday?
3) Why do you pray through Maria if the Bible says that no one will come to God except through Jesus Christ himself?
4) How can your priests forgive sins if the Bible teaches us that only God can forgive sins?
