You guys give the most rational answers of all the Christians, but I have another question for you.

If God (Jehovah) has no beginning and has always existed, and Jesus was his first creation in heaven before he was sent down to earth to die etc, then what did God do for eternity before he created Jesus and everything else??

Although it may be hard for our minds to understand, Jehovah never had a beginning and will never have an end. He is the “King of eternity.” (Psalm 90:2; 1 Timothy 1:17) Before he began to create, Jehovah was all alone in universal space. Yet he could not have been lonesome, for he is complete in himself and lacks nothing. It was love that moved him to begin to create, to give life to others to enjoy. God’s first creations were spirit persons like himself. He had a great organization of heavenly sons even before the earth was prepared for humans. Jehovah purposed for them to find great delight in life and in the service he gave them to do.—Job 38:4, 7.

Whatever answer a human might give would of necessity be limited by human experience and reasoning.

(Numbers 23:19) God is not a man

(1 Corinthians 2:16) For “who has come to know the mind of Jehovah...?” But we do have the mind of Christ.

(Romans 11:33-34) O the depth of God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How unsearchable his judgments are and past tracing out his ways are! For “who has come to know Jehovah’s mind...?

Yet, even today a typical human appreciates time alone. Humans must concentrate for days, weeks, months, or years before undertaking significant projects which are pathetically microscopic compared with the vast and perfect universe (see and unseen).

(Revelation 4:11) You are worthy, Jehovah, even our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created.

Interesting question and I am sure it is one that many have contemplated. The truth of the matter is, we simply do not know what Jehovah God did all those eons before he created his first born son. The Bible is silent on the matter, as indeed, it is silent on many things. We do not know and it has no bearing on John 17:3, so the question cannot be answered.

Perhaps in the future, God will allow us to know. For now, he apparently feels it is not important.

The Bible does not answer this question and since Witnesses follow the Bible's directions, we do not have anything concrete. amorromantico02 did have a good response however because it is based on biblic principles.

I would suggest however, that if you do want to know more about Witnesses you should read up at the website www.watchtower.org and write for a Bible study. Then YOU can learn the truth about us, instead of getting answers from people who may know little about us and answering your question.
