Atheists are the foundation of all that is good?

you see religious groups bashing each others heads in ! muslims hate christians and even kill each other because of religious believes!
christian sects are head to head in fights among another ! hidus and buddhists do not care for one a nother!

so that would leave us Atheists ! we are the calm and collected ones , the freedom dwellers , peace oriented and charity workers! no preaching , just random acts of kindness!

are we the foundation of sound love , pace and happiness??

so my grandmother just disowned me?

i kid you not.

when i got married in august, she wrote on my wedding card "PLEASE find you a good church and start your life in Christ"

i ignored the card at the time, but today she asked me if I had taken her advice on the card, and when i very politely told her no, i don't believe in god and i have no plans of going to church but i appreciate her concern, she said "I'm sorry. I love you but I can no longer handle the fact that you aren't a servant of God. I can't stand to watch you throw your life away and pave your own path to hell"

then she hung up on me.

then about 15 minutes later, my grampa called and invited me out to lunch tomorrow and apparently my grandmother is not speaking to him because he's still associating with me. luckily my grandfather is a better human being than my grandmother

anyway, is anyone else's family like this? how do you deal?

why did god create mosquitoes?

really, what's the point?

they aren't necessary. if all the mosquitoes disappeared, it's not like the food chain would crumble or anything. plus, there would be less disease.

Why are expatriates who find happiness out of USA bashed? When we have a saying of love it or leave it?

My uncle immigrated to Canada, because he felt is was so hard for him to raise a family here. He's worried that since the cost of living here in the USA is so great, he wouldn't have time for his children, and putting them in day care is not his idea of being a parent. My other uncle went to New Zealand and says he now knows what it is to be human again. (with the same concerns of raising a family. Yet, people bash them and feel there is no better place than the usa. And the general attitude the usa has the best quality of life, when we rank like 18th in the world. You guys thoughts?

Do people actually believe all things in the universe & on earth occurred by some magical super-god?

For some "god" to have created everything takes an enormous leap of faith, so much that it becomes impossible to believe it. While it seems possible to eventually explain the universe in terms of natural laws, it seems impossible to explain how a god could exist that would have the power to have created everything. How can people believe "god did it"?

Fellow Athiests?

Does it drive you crazy when people think you'd be offended by something silly?
I was at my sis' and someone said something like "when god closes a door he opens a window" and she was like "Jenae doesn't belive in god" (which was not her place to announce) But I DO NOT get offended when people say stuff like that or "god bless you" when I sneeze, or say that they'll pray for me if stuff is going bad in my life...
Anyhooo... just venting. I'm not that touchy! Does this happen to you?

Where do JWs get the idea that more people die from blood transfusions than survive?

The attached link shows the risk of contracting a blood borne desease from a transfusion.

So where do they get their stats saying that there's a greater risk of dieing from a transfusion than surviving, when the average risk of contracting a blood borne desease in the USA from transfusion is just 1 in 340,000?

Also, when they say that there are alternatives to blood that can now be used, do they realise these so called alternatives are blood expanders, not substitutes. The situations where they are appropriate is limited by the amount of blood needed.

There is currently NO substitute to blood that will carry oxygen through the body.

Do they really think blood transfusions would be so heavily used if there were such great risks involved as what they claim?

Do they realise the main reason blood expanders are used where possible is to make that most out of the small amounts of blood that people kindly donate?

Are blacks treated better in Europe than they are in America? Also...?

Do blacks act differently in Europe than they do in America? I'm not talking about all blacks. But in the cities I've lived in, majority of the young blacks wear the low jeans with their underwear showing and speak in their own slang language and aren't well educated and commit theft. They are very disrespectful to adults of all races, even their own parents. I am wondering how the black youth in Europe act and are treated? And how the education is there? Are they treated differently to white students?
