really, what's the point?

they aren't necessary. if all the mosquitoes disappeared, it's not like the food chain would crumble or anything. plus, there would be less disease.

would someone please explain to me the point in "intelligently designing" mosquitoes?

God can't smite everyone with lightening bolts all the time, it would scare people. So he sends in some Holy Mosquitos if some heathen is just pissing Him off a little bit.

That is a good question, and likely many people would say, “No. Mosquitoes are no good!” But some researchers suggest that the male mosquito, whose fare is the juice of plants, plays a part in pollinating wild flowers of some types. Also, mosquitoes are said to be a significant food source for certain animals, birds, other insects and even fish.
Not all mosquitoes are dangerous villains. Disturbing though these insects can be, they do serve useful purposes. At least you need not fear every mosquito, even if you view their kind as the insect menace of the night.

Maybe it was so we would learn the virtue of tolerance.

Or maybe it was so we would have a bit more faith.

Because - i agree - mosquitoes are just pretty much a pain in the butt.

Still - I also believe that everything is as it should be. That's my faith - and it truly helps me get past things that I don't understand.

I belive that mosquitoes control population of species. Also, when Adam and Eve sinned, disease was a punishment. God keeps his promises and today diseases still travel in mosquitoes.

With all the people who sneeze or cough w/o covering their faces, use the loo w/o washing their hands... and you think there would be less disease if we wiped out the skeeters? Nah. Skeeters can be blocked, people on the other hand... there's this little thing called tissues, and proper handwashing technique...

and I don't recommend kissing lizards either.

There are a number of creatures that I don't like, but I understand that everything and everyone on this planet; serves some kind of purpose in HIS Plans and HIS Kingdom.

Therefore, they ARE necessary, otherwise HE would not have made them.

My personal theory is that mosquitoes exist in order TO spread disease... nature's way of keeping the population down by killing it off en masse every so often. We can eradicate one disease and lookie, there's another new one. Nature is relentless in trying to keep us from overpopulating the planet.
