It it so confusing in the bookstores with so many Bibles on the shelf. I am a non-Catholic considering converting. Any help, as specific as you could be, would be greatly appreciated. My Grandmother passed away a few days ago, and that has made me think about my life and faith a lot. She was a devout Catholic.

Thanks in advance for any help...

i was talking to some friends and the topic of race came up. they said that since there is so many people with mixed races now it's just gonna become more and more until in years and years to come, there's not gonna be anybody with 100% white in them. now...i'm mixed myself and almost everyone in my family is mixed with something. so i can see why someone would think that. but is it really possible??

Someone has recently posted a question in which he expressed guilt over his first girlfriend having aborted a pregnancy he took part in creating.

Knowing that the law in the United States allows a woman to make the decision of whether or not to carry a pregnancy to term, don't you think it's reasonable to ask that people discuss their views on abortion before having sex? I would not sleep with someone who felt that an abortion was murder because if all precautions failed, abortion is, in my mind, a viable option. Conversely, I don't think a guy who is strongly opposed to abortion should sleep with a woman who sees it as a choice. You have to be aware of the possibly consequences of your actions, and if you choose to sleep with a woman, you have to understand that, if she becomes pregnant, this option is available to her. If you don't want your fetus aborted, you should only sleep with women who don't believe in abortion.

I'm sick of hearing "she should have kept her legs closed."

Is there an online community that is NOT full of teenie bopers and old men that look like sexual predators?!?!

I have MySpace and I wish to leave it. Very boring and is now full of people who want to hack your account to spam everyone.

I have a VERY FULL life, and I do have a life outside of the internet. I enjoy the online community especially when I have to do boring chores like laundry, or when I am ill and not able to sleep. So if you dislike the fact I spend SOME of my spare time in one go shove it and keep your immature comments to yourself. Respect me and I will respect you in return!

I only want GOOD referals for online communities, from nice mature and relaxed people.

Which would you choose to go out with? A Goth boy or emo boy? I would go out with the Goth guy if he's sensative and understanding, dress like those in Dark Oracle *laughs* or rather I would love any person who's like that.

For the emo boy, hmm...let's see...not sure.

I know I shouldn't be throwing stones. I'm guilty of the same. But really isn't it really counter productive? Look at their responses to our challanges. Look at the outright attacks that are in their questions. I've not seen an honest question about our faith from one of them yet.

OK! I know a lot of ppl who say they are Christians.
But they do not act like it when they are out of church.
So my Q is, if you are going to go to church, why not act like it all the time>? not just in the church?
I mean sure, sin is fun. there is nothing to say about that. satan wants you to think it's fun. just so you stay away from GOD.
But if it's wrong, y do it? yes i sin. everyone does. weather it is sparing some ones feeling (it's called lying!) or killing some one. they are both a sin. God detests both
So, if you are going to go to church, plz try and act like it.
don't boast like ''oh im a christian, im SO much better than you are. ur going to hell'' NO! ur NOT better than others. YOU-ARE-THE-SAME! God loves some on who is rich the same as he loves some one who is poor. He love the criminal as much as he loves the do-gooder. and if you are a christian, you would treat every one the same too. i know it's hard. But that is what makes you different frome every one. agree?

I've read the Bible. I'm hours into the Koran. So far they are the exact same stories; Adam/Garden of Eden, and Moses and the mountain. Slightly different points of view, but basically the same.

I'm curious how reading two (or more) Holy books changes your perspective.

I was talking to some people I know who are hardcore fundamentalist Christians, the started quoting scripture and I quoted right back, they seemed so surprised. I said "I have read the entire bible quite a few times haven't you?", the said no and seemed a bit disturbed.

(and yes I was a baptized Christian up until the age of 18, I have been taught and understand the Bible)

'(Remember) when God will say (on the Day of Resurrection). "O 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Remember My Favour to you and to your mother when I supported you with RuhulQudus [Jibrael (Gabriel)] so that you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; and when I taught you writing, AlHikmah (the power of understanding), the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel); and when you made out of the clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My Permission, and you breathed into it, and it became a bird by My Permission, and you healed those born blind, and the lepers by My Permission, and when you brought forth the dead by My Permission; and when I restrained the Children of Israel from you (when they resolved to kill you) since you came unto them with clear proofs, and the disbelievers among them said: 'This is nothing but evident magic.' My wife and I eloped because even though I was 22 at the time, my mother didn't give me permission to date or see girls. I fell in love and married anyway because I didn't want to spend life as a momma's boy. Anyway, my wife and I are atheists but my parents are devout Catholics. According to the church, our marriage is not valid without their stamp of approval. I could care less but my dad thinks we live in sin and I'd like to please him. Is there a way for us to validate our marriage in the church without having to take classes or having a wedding (something neither my wife or I like).

So lets accept on it's face that sex is (as claimed by many, but not all, Christians) for the purposes of reproduction. Go forth and multiply, and all that. Say a man is sterilized, through no fault of his own. Accident as a child that damaged his testicles and he can't produce motile (yes, this is a word, and has a specific meaning other than "mobile") sperm. Or let's take hope away completely, and by defect his testicles produce nothing but the hormons he requires to express his male traits.

Since he can not, with an absolutely no chance whatesoever, ever produce even one sperm cell, is it a sin for him to have sex, even if he is married? Is it a sin, because the entire point of sex is reproduction (again, if you don't believe this, this is not targeted at you) and he can NEVER reproduce, is sex a sin for that man no matter what?

(The same situation could be applied to a woman, and same question applied)
