Origins of the universe, hands down.
I consider it to be of higher informational value. It may not lead to the most immediate benefit, but I find that the overall benefit, long term, would outweigh the immediate short-term benefit of curing retroviral disease.

The origins of the universe wow, The universe is vast and old and as one dies another is created in the very spot the former one existed. The universe is like a forest and a self contained ecosystem of it's own.
Aids is virus that will one day weaken over time if precautions are taken or it will evolve and get stronger like all strong strand viruses it lives to survive but it also destroys it's hosts and it must move from host to host.
It is very interesting how the two are similar but I will have to go with finding a cure because I can not stand to see people(men, women, and children) dying any longer. I would want to know the cure so that people could live and live well.

I could say this is a tough question but I would be lying. If I were going to answer this question completely honestly, my curiousity would get the best of me and I would have to say I'd prefer to know the origins of the universe and leave it up to science to one day find a cure for AIDS. I'm much to curious about the origins and mysteries of the universe to let an oppurtunity to find out slip by.

The cure for aids is an immediate need. The origins of the universe is something we can ponder for the next hundred generations. Knowing the answer to the universe will not save one life.

Obviously a cure for aids. I tend to believe that the universe has always existed in some form and so has no point of origin.

i have lost three people in my life to AIDS/HIV. Only one of Them was gay.. I would chose the cure hands down, I am satisfied with the current theory of how the universe started, Yes it would be nice to know for sure, but we, and AIDS victims are here NOW, and knowing the true origin of the universe won;t help them or anyone else afflicted with any illness or disability,
Let;s take care of humanity. The Cosmos can fend for itself.
