This phrase just really bugs me and I refuse to use it. There are very few Africans who have become American citizens but then again they have become an "American." If you were born in America you are an American, period. Making the distinctions like this only perpetuates racism. We don't hear about European Americans, Japanese Americans, China Americans, Russian Americans, Mexican Americans. If we are all created equal then why do we need to label ourselves?

It is a famous quote, I know, but I have been reflecting upon it. All to frequently I have seen messages of goodwill on this site (and in the world at large) slandered by cynics and malefactors who seem to take great pleasure in their own aggression.

Why is the world like this? If equality and peace are far-flung, romantic dreams, can't people at least learn politeness and how to be more reasonable? It seems to me that the world is becoming increasingly full of too many mouths talking, and not enough ears listening.

Does anyone agree- or even understand what I'm trying to get at (my grammatical skills leave a lot to be desired, I know)

My high school has this thing called "Send a Rose to a Friend". You buy the tag, fill it out and then on Valentines Day they deliver theh rose to the friend you choose. I wanted to send one to the guy I like. I have liked him for over a year now but I haven't told him. I wanted to send him a rose but not sign it so he doesn't know its from me. My mom said she doesn't want me to do it if I am not going to sign it. I dont see what the big deal is. Should I send him a rose?

members spoke openly about how she worried about her son and him not being married yet. She also expressed her concern that if and when it does happen, how a 'wrench' it'd be. Then another male member turned round and said to me, "Yes, it's the same with you. When your daughter marries, it'll be the same way - they'll be difficulty with separation". I didn't even ask his opinion about my personal affairs, as we're there to discuss the bible, unless anyone discusses their problems. Now it's made me think about what he said and I feel quite perturbed by it. What's it got to do with him?

I've known him for years. He was the best man at my wedding.He has hitherto seemed quite a liberal tolerant person but some of the things he's written about disgust me. I'm certain I'm not missing the point or anything. It's just an offensive piece of trash that's been years in the writing. He gave up his job and his social life to do it. He's coming back from holiday (a treat to himself for finishing it) in a couple of days and he's going to know what I thought of it. What do I do?

Employees of a fast food place find 5 dead rabbits in parking lot. You can tell that the rabbits were killed in a not very nice way. You can also tell that someone placed them in the parking lot..
The owner says--Do not call the police, I do not want the attention . Several employee's are upset that he is ignoring it. and refusing to call the police because they have to be there late at night and are worried the person or persons who did this might come back while they are there alone. What do you think?
