I'm black/African American and I really don't like that word. It's the same thing as a white/caucasin calling another caucasin "white trash". it's not racist if they say it but if an AA said it it would be considered racist. I personally don't use that word because it is demeaning. I was never born a slave and I have never been one so I don't want anyone else calling me that. What I think has happened is that over the years "we" have used that word so much that we've become desensitized to it and we just ignore it. I mean kids say it all the time and have no idea what it really means and then they grow up saying it and they just get use to it. But any race doesn't want another race to demean it and really I'm sure a lot AA don't think it's acceptable to say the N word at all.

When they say it, it isn't meant in a racist manner. It is meant to say "you're my friend" , etc. I know I sound completely white right now but hey, you asked. When a person of a different color than them says it, it is hard to distinguish whether or not it is being used in a wrong way, but why would a black person discriminate against themself? That wouldn't go over real well i'm assuming. Woouldn't make much sense. It's like a white girl calling her white friend a cracker and no offense is taken. If a black person was to say it, it would be taken offensively. Understand?

i do no longer think of any of the different solutions have been given it staggering. i'm finished black and that i do no longer use the N be conscious, and that i refuse to be called the N be conscious by way of everybody (different than my brother, we are tight like that); it rather isn't my call. i've got thrown it around perhaps as quickly as while i grow to be very indignant. yet besides, i think of that the N be conscious has been a extensive element of black historic past in united states of america of america, and of path that's caught with the community long after the atrocities that got here approximately alongside it. that's like something which you'r uncovered to for a protracted time; that's what you comprehend. Rethinking it slightly, the utilization ought to have died out by way of now, the term has grown right into a term of brotherhood somewhat of offensive language between blacks; the place that got here approximately I haven't any thought. while used by way of somebody who isn't of black ethnicity, it is seen as offensive because of the fact they don't seem to hitch the "brotherhood" this is being black. i think of I at a loss for words some human beings, yet in basic terms think of roughly it some. @ simon, the term does examine with being black. it is taken from the spanish ***** (neh gro) meaning black. the term utilized in slavery situations grow to be used to characterize "stupid/inferior black."

The reason is because when we say it, we dont use it in a racist manner, we mean it as hey friend, somebody that you are cool with. When other people use it they mean it in a racist manner. Plus thats just the rules so follow them!

Because that's just the way it is! Those are the rules! Please follow them! Thanks! LOL! No but seriously, name calling to any race isn't pleasant. I don't call names unless I'm under attack. Basically I think people who have anger issues not excluding myself, should seek some type of professional help. I'm on meds. Now I'm very mellow and even if I'm under attack, the meds keep me calm and collected. But once they meds wear off....... OMG! I have to be put in a cage like Angelis the Vampire! So that's why I keep taking them. They are my personality in a bottle!

it's obvious to me that when a Black rapper uses this word he doesn't attach the same meaning to it as when a White person does.
