Agnati you misunderstood my response. Of course Jesus was the sacrifice for our sins...no doubt!! But he also was the tithe and offering God was looking for. He fulfilled all old testament law. And those who argue tithe was before the law are still bound by tradition. I believe in giving whatever God lays on my heart whether it is 10 or 100 percent. We do not give under law anymore but because we love God and do want to further His kingdom not the Assemblies of God, Southern Baptist or any other man made organization. Pastors for the most part who still teach tithe are binding Gods people under a bondage He never intended.

Okay, I know decorating trees inside houses, December 25, yule logs, round decorations all came from Druid traditions (way before Christianity), but what other "Christmas" traditions have pagan roots?

I know all the textbook, dictionary based religious definitions, but what does your religion (or lack thereof) really mean to you? I'd like to hear from a wide variety, agnostics, christians, muslims, etc...Sort of a check on the evolution of faiths.

No where in the Bible did it ever say, we need to celebrate that day. Do you know who when was it proclaimed and who proclaimed that Christmas is official holiday?

I was taught to write thank you notes everytime I got a present. I continued doing so, but in the last few years noticed I was the only one in my family (mine and my in-laws) sending them. I've never got a thank-you note for Christmas gifts from either side of the family. Last year I didn't get around to it (for family--co-workers, clients, etc. got notes) and no one complained. No one ever said they liked the notes, either. I know I should start sending them again, but I'm really lacking motivation. Is it rude to ask my family if they mind me not sending thank-yous?

Judaism was born in 1900 BCE and Islam in 622 CE. Because of the fact that Judaism is 2,522 years older than Islam and that the name of "Jerusalem" is mentioned thousands of times in Hebrew scriptures, hundreds of times in daily prayers and thoughts, both in the direct form of Jerusalem and its many names, and in Islam, where the word "Jerusalem" is never really mentioned in the Quran, except as a few times as "Al Quds", or holy city, and considering the fact that Judaism has only one city where the two ancient temples existed and Jewish history was made and Jerusalem was the spot where Muhammed supposedly arouse in the myths, to heaven on a winged horse with a women's face (al-buraq), and that Islam considers Jerusalem only its 3rd holiest city (how many cities should a religion have honestly?), WHO REALLY OWNS THE CITY, Judaism or Islam? (not Christianity, who has some claim on it though), I mean total claim?

God is love, but also bring death to the wicked,as such is the law of karma:you cause suffering and you reap same, whether you believe it or not!
Jesus will NOT wipe all your sins:be sure of that!
How to know that animals suffer in slaughterhouses?
By taking birth as an animal and get killed the same way!

hey since you do not believe in God, or any religion of man,why then do you follow them. How might you ask? Hollidays perhaps? Valintines,Holloween, Christmass? they are all of so called mans religions. to be an athiest (which know one cannot prove they are) you have to deny these things, yet i have seen many so called athiests pratice them. Why is that?

Why is it that people sometimes refer to the Bible as a "fairy tale" or refer to it as a childrens story book , but yet on the other hand read their zodiac sign/ horoscopes religiously? I have heard some argue that the Bible was written by men and therefore not accurate, but yet they believe that their horoscopes are accurate. When I would be willing to bet that the horoscopes in the past 10 years have been written by more people than the Bible.

An act-oriented approach focuses on the external acts of the person. On the other hand, a person-oriented approach judges the morality of an act in relation to the whole perso doing the act. It includes motive, intention & personal struggles of the person before doing the act.

I'm not talking about what the media tells you to think. And don't say anything about our current war and president. I am talking about what your religion (just religion) thinks about the military and what we stand for/ do for a living. (No, the military is not about killing people. Keep in mind you can do just about any civilian job in the military as well- doctor, dentist, computer tech, etc)
Do you have an opposite oppinion about the military than your religion? I heard some religion don't like the military or support the troops... why?

Please don't say we kill innocent kids, we try to start wars for oil, etc. Just forget about the current issues in the news.

Jesus said in the Beatitudes "Blessed are the Poor in Spirit..for yours is the kingdom of God"

Now He did NOT say : Blessed are you "Spiritually Dead"

But then again, He also said: " Woe to you BLiND Pharisees!"

Isn't it true that we are all "spiritually dead" because all have sinned and fell short of God's glory, yet when He came into the world, it is true that He came for the sinners to teach them repentance...yet He did not bless the spiritually dead, but the spiritually poor...why do you think is this?

When I was a little girl(8yrs old) my mother's boyfriend(Now her husband) molested me. When my sister and I told my mother she basically accused us of lying. As the year's went by it happened a few more times. Childrens services got invovled and I was taken away to live with my real dad, he couldn't take care of me so I went back to my mother. Now I'm 24 years old, and I've been through so many changes since then. One bad relationship after the next, I've never trusted men. And I've always been scared to date older men. My mom and the rest of the family bascially brushed it under the carpet all these years, and so have I. We were told it never happened so don't talk about it. I have never had a good relationship with my mother, only decent. But I want to get over this pain from my past, and forgive my mother and now step dad. I'm trying to get closer to God so please tell me, how do I forgive a mother I feel didn't protect me?
