Are there any etiquette guidelines Americans should follow when in England? I am moving to Luton, Bedfordshire, and having never been abroad, I am nervous about offending anyone. Is there anything the Americans do that the English find particularly annoying?

Also, I have been looking for UK etiquette books and have found several, but is there a single one you would recommend above all the rest?

Actually, I'm not sure if that's the right word I'm looking for because I'm talking about animals. I'm wondering if the Bible says anywhere that it's okay to kill an animal (or even an insect) to keep it from having to suffer. I know that the in the Ten Commandments it says "Thou shalt not kill". It gives no special circmstances or anything. But is there anything that says about doing it to keep an animal or insect from suffering?

Can someone PLEASE explain to me why people judge you when they don't even know you? Sure, I'll admit that I have done it before, everyone has but some people just don't know when to stop. Like when I asked an ignorant question (purposely) here on yahoo and some people told me that I porbably won't even make it to high school or that I need professional help (even though I'm ALREADY in high school). They don't even know me. Or when people don't want to be friends with me because I'm an atheist, well ****, their loss. Or when people tell me that I need an IQ boost and that I need to put my crack pipe down.

Has this ever happened to you? Have people talked about you when they don't even know you? Does it feel good?

Do you think there is a high or low possibility that the focus on Sean Bell as a father and husband to be before his death will overly prejudice any jury pool, should there be any prosecutions levied against the officers involved in his death and the wounding of the passengers in the car they were in?

I am more immediately worried that some people may be taking Bell's status and confusing it for possible motive, or contending that the shooting must have been unjustly motivated solely on the basis of Bell's supposedly benign character.

What do you think? Is this story being covered fairly?

When people start to talk to you and at first they talk in words that are not like bad words/cuss words and the after a while of getting to talk to you they start to use cuss words does it mean that person feels comfortable saying these words around you?
Like say for example how some guys might feel that they should not say bad words or cuss words around women.

So each one of my friends, (probably 12 of us in total), each found a random spider that was unusual and unique. Im really scared of spiders so this was intense for me. We then filled a glass fish tank with some dirt, sticks, and leaves and placed all the spiders inside. Not only was the outcome just as awesome as we thought it would be, the winning spider who ate all the other spiders layed eggs. BUT THEN THE EGGS VANISHED AND SO DID CORNCOB THE MASSIVE SPIDER-DOME CHALLENGE WINNING SPIDER. Where the hell did they go?

Christianity is the answer.

Every religious and philosophical system has its own path to "ultimate fulfillment." In order to reach a "higher level," one must discipline their thoughts and actions in such a way as to reach this goal, or "salvation."

For example:

* Buddhists strive for their goal through chanting and prayer.
* Muslims strive for their goal by submitting to the will of Allah.
* Anarchists strive for their goal by rebelling against society.
* Hedonists strive for their goal by seeking pleasure.
* Catholics strive for their goal by keeping the sacraments.
* Many others who consider themselves "Christian" strive for their goal through regular church attendance, and doing good things.
* Mystics and occultists strive for their by seeking supernatural experiences.
* Atheists strive for their goal by disproving the existence of God.

I could go on, but you probably get the idea by now.

In the face of all these human religions and philosophies, biblical Christianity teaches something completely opposite:

"It is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

No matter how hard you try, you can't save yourself. Still, to receive the gift, there is something you need to do, right here, right now:

* Put your full trust and faith in Jesus Christ -- Not only that He exists, that He is the Son of God, that He died, was buried, and brought back to life, but also that He is your only hope for salvation, and that He is your highest authority.

Please give a reason why, and an intelligable, well written, and correctly spelled answer. (there is spell check available)

I am currently a christian at the Church of Christ. I have been saved but I am so lost right now. I know there is something that put us here, and no I do not believe that we had millions of cells magically get put together to create us, we are to complex. The body is I mean. So I feel some greater power did put us here. And whenever I am in a bad spot it's funny how I always find myself praying to God to help me. But I don't want to go to God in just a time of need, I want to go to Him always. What are some things you guys do to help you believe better. Ready the Bible, go to church. What else can I do? Please help me!

...from TV's, Computers and the like, returning to a seemingly more old fashioned existence?

Let me clarify. I am not suggesting society return to the dark ages, or live in the past, nor am I suggesting any form of sensorship.

However, the vast majority of people I have known, met, and current know and work with, to include myself at times, seem overly dependent on the Internet, TV and other visual media for virtually all needs, desires and whims.

So, in your opinion, would Society at large be a better place if we all just unplugged, limited ourselves to so much visual media and developed some self-reliance instead of letting other people have so much influence in our lives who don't even know us and who don't really care?

Would Society be a better place if we all had more balance, learned to have conversations with other people in real time, face to face?

To unplug or not to unplug?

Do you think it is really justified in some cases? Is the government saving on money by not paying health costs or rehabilitation. I just dont mean "only" the US govt. but whereever this is practised. Note singapore sends people to the gallows for possession of a certain quantity of drugs. Is this justified?

I would love to come to your side of the pond if you don't mind. I sneaked across the border, from the US, a couple times, but felt guilty without permission. I did Not vote for Bush, and it gets very tiresome here sometimes. So is it okay with you if I engage in conversation with you on occasion?

I am christian, and most of my friends are christian although one of my closest friends is wiccan. All my christian friends are so mean to her, they call her all sorts of names, and she takes all of it with a smile. And when its just me & her she cries alot because of how much it hurts her. She's the one who at least tries to love everyone, and turns the other cheek. You know, what my CHRISTIAN friends are supposed to do. My question is weather my friends are just hypocritical, or if its just me
