It almost seems like at times they are more trying to prove it to them selves, and so I am curious if this is the reason why. If they are not why do they care about any religion questions? Please give a reason why, and an intelligable, well written, and correctly spelled answer. (there is spell check available)

The answer is in Ephesians 4:12......being without God they have a vacuum that even they do not understand and it is interesting how they will seek to fill it, sometimes by trying to provoke God.
Many have mocked God repeatedly only to find out that he is willing to forgive and redeem them. He is never swayed by the taunts......
yea....
But God is not slack concerning His promises, but longsuffering, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentence. His will is that every person, regardless of how much they have professed their disbelief, would take what he has so freely offered, through Jesus Christ,
Redemption!

They are not desperate to prove God does not exist, what "they" (and by 'they' you mean Atheists) are trying to do is show that an belief in a God, and/or religion is in fact an illogical one.

Atheists (im one myself), are incredibly frustrated by religious people, and religious beliefs because they fly in the face of common sense.

In fact, for "believers", they have to compartmentalise logic and faith to get through the day.

Atheists and Agnostics put reason before faith. The bible/koran have shown over time, that their writings defy logic and are at odds with what we now know about the world, and the universe.

This is why non-christians (actually non-religous people) get so frustrated, because we now know that Adam and Eve did not exist, we know that the world was not created in seven days, we know that planet Earth is not 10,000 years old (i could go on), yet Christians will sit there till they are blue in the face stating how the bible is real and its writings are truth.

Religion relies on the unprovable, i.e. the existence of a God. However science (and non-believers) look at observations of the environment, the earth and universe for their truths, they look at what they can see, hear, touch taste and most importantly prove.

The Bible and indeed Christianity is so ridiculous, it completely baffles non-believers how believers can suspend disbelief and accept what they are told in the Bible as fact, when its obvious to a reasoned individual that it cannot be true.

The reality is this: During the last 2000 years science has swallowed ignorance, about 95% of "facts" about our existence stated in the bible have been shown to be false, and thats in just 2000 years (in actual fact it's been the last couple of hundred years).

Secular society has grown tired of religion and the problems it causes. We are ready for a world without your God, a world without suicide bombers and ignorance of facts.

As a non-christian, I sometimes try to disprove the theory of God because believing in God has hurt many people, and I wish for the suffering to end. So many people have died because of a belief in God, a lack of belief in God, etc. and I believe the only way to stop that violence is to show people that God is a figment of the human imagination, and is an illusion that can do both good and bad, but the bad by far out weighs the good. People can find reason to live and do good within themselves, so why do so many take the easy way out and let themselves be deceived into believing in a god? There is more out of life, such as artistic expression and the greater connection between all humans, so why rely on some supernatural source to live when there is something so much more beautiful and truer within yourself?

You might want to specify "atheists," as non Christians covers everyone by Christians. And you do realize that there are other religions out there, right? Who also believe?

Anyhow... You say at time it seems we are trying to prove to ourselves? Uh...no... It's called stating our belief just as much as those that say "God is real!" I mean, do those that say "God is real" only trying to prove it to themselves?

Why we care about religious questions...
Religion, especially the majority religion, affects society which affects us all. In some cases that is a bad thing, so sometimes it's interest driven by the need to know what is going on in our world and what others are up to that could impact our own lives.

What a person believes is a big part of life, even if someone is a non believer. You don't have to believe to have interest in beliefs. It is only right that we all get to be open about our beliefs and learn about each other. Maybe some people are just curious as to other people and their beliefs and how it compares to themselves, huh?

Actually, most non-Christians don't care enough about your definition of God to try and prove\disprove anything. It's just not that important to them.

They can live with their beliefs and have the faith in their personal convictions, without intruding on yours.

You may need the opinion that they are doing this, in order to give you a greater level of comfort and support in your beliefs.

Oh, and by the way....You spelled intelligible incorrectly. There is spell check available you know .

I think your question demonstrates why! You assume that non-christians are desperate to prove that God does not exists demonstrates the assumption the only God is the Christian God! I know of many non-christians who would take issue with that, so I am glad that you stated your question exactly the way you did!

The more correct question is why are athiests so desperate to prove that God does not exist. Well, they are not desperate at all! They have a firm belief just as any one of faith does, and they will argue their points and reasons just as well as anybody else. But to suggest that they go out of their way to do so, no mainly not true. But here is a question for you: Why do so many Christians so desperate to prove that their religion is the one true religion?

Right now Christian media outlets and evangelicals are making this assertion that they are under attack by non-believers and skeptics. How untrue! In fact, historically I think Christianity has demonstrated it's perchant for attack, persecution and destruction on a level never seen by most superpowers! Most people are justifiably sick and tired of having to deal with the by-products of religion, mainly intolerance, warfare, political influence, and most of all ignorance! And it is about time in my opinion. Keep in mind that religion has nothing to do with God, and that certainly fits how most religions have behaved at one point or another in history. Look at the scandals, the molestations, the meth fueled gay sex, the outright hypocracy of it all. And yet they want to have us believe they are somehow innocent and have no harmful agenda as they try to take away from educating our young and tell us what to believe and walk away with billions every year and pay no taxes! Again, I think you are confusing just who is desperate in this situation. Non-believers, if anything, are desperate to have religion out of our politics and out of our foreign policy and out of our schools! And that will be a wonderful day, indeed!

Edit: Well written, intelligible answer apuh apuh....

What a snob. You didn't even spell intelligible right. You know, there is spell check available. Typical Christian, not practicing what's preached.

What are you trying to prove?

answererman: add some details, don't run away. I want to know what you think now. Now that they've made you look like a fool.

Wow. some of these responses are disturbing. I've gone through the 'God doesn't exist' phase, but there are too many things that happen that science can't prove. I know that even in the times where I have tried with all my might not to believe in Him, he has touched me in a way that science never could. Believing in God has not stopped me from becoming a better person or living a satisfying life. Believing in God and His word has taught me to be kind and helpful to people, to not have sex with every person that crosses my path, to not engage in behavior that is harmful to my body, and to just be an all around good person (I am not in anyway saying that non-believers have these qualities, I am speaking from my own personal experience). I have met beautiful people and had wonderful experiences that I know I wouldn't have had if I didn't believe in God. If people chose not to believe in God, that is their business, but "...as for me and my house, we will praise the Lord." God bless you all...

I am non-Christian, but I'm not trying to prove God doesn't exist. I have a very valid interest in religion, my major in college was religion.

God can be neither proven nor disproven, it is a matter of faith. If God could be proven or disproven, then it ceases to be religion and becomes science.

And it's not just non-Christians trying to disprove God, I just answered a question about someone claiming she could prove God exists. It is impossible either way.

Some non-Christians are desperate to prove that a god does not exist. They are not all desperate to prove that a god does not exist. Why are making a generalization? Why are some Christians so desperate to prove that a god exists? You need to use spell-check. You spelled desperate incorrectly.

As long as Christianity, as well as several of the other "ultimate truths", have as their end and gleefully sought after goal, the END OF THE WORLD, and as long as they believe that their rights are being violated if they are denied the opportunity to use the coercive power of the state to shove their god down every ones throat, you will have to put up with us being in your face. Why should we abandon a forum where we can let you know that you will not be allowed to carry out the silly "End Times" rubbish that you seem to forget would include the rest of us.
