Do you think there is a high or low possibility that the focus on Sean Bell as a father and husband to be before his death will overly prejudice any jury pool, should there be any prosecutions levied against the officers involved in his death and the wounding of the passengers in the car they were in?

I am more immediately worried that some people may be taking Bell's status and confusing it for possible motive, or contending that the shooting must have been unjustly motivated solely on the basis of Bell's supposedly benign character.

What do you think? Is this story being covered fairly?

From what has been admitted so far, the situation had all the earmarks of a gang attack on the guys that were shot. Their advancing, backing, turning, advancing of their vehicle was obviously an attempt to escape.

A plainclothes cop is not that easy to I.D at 04:00 a.m. in that sort of situation. A couple of years ago in Oakland, CA, two uniforms responding to support a plains clothes cop (and they were told what he would look like), came on the scene, and shot him dead even though he had his shield in one hand in plain view. They were not punished.

The events in NYC have all the appearance of a botched job (wonder if the cops were tested for alcohol and other drugs) starting to be covered up.

Police out of control has become the worst thing, so far, inspired by the Bush-league.

I just wish they tell us what the hell happened. It's REAALLLY interesting that an 'official' story has yet to come to surface. You have all the officers & the other 2 'perps' who got shot 23 times total, 1 eye witness & a club security camera & I have still heard what happened. I'll wait to post judgement when more info comes. For the record, 53 times is A LOT of bullets for 1 suspected 'gun' in a car.
